The amp is very nice. My fans are quiet at my power level. In fact, my computer fans are louder; perhaps after running with more power and heat they will kick-in.Construction is very nice. I do not believe the power rating stated (peak or rms).... I believe it is less, but without testing it......nevertheless, this amp is terrific. Clean, great sound for the price and works very well with my OSD Audio Pre-1 mixer / preamp. My speakers are home-made. Running (2) 8" woofers (low freq woofer and a low-mid woofer), a Bema horn from France when they were available.... running with my JBL 2445J , which is a 2446 Compression Mid Driver (16 ohm), and running a bullet tweeter. Crossovers are home made using 12GA wire (yes, very big and will never burn out).Anyway, I have only been using this amp for a few days but no regrets. In the future I will probably order 2 more of these amps to allow for 5.1 system, but still allow me to run 1 amp for 2ch music. To me, running the 5.1 / 7.1 / 9x /11x system never sound the same for listening to simple music on 2 channels. Many of the new and former stereo's over the past 20 years with all their "sound effects" do not support adequate current to drive speakers. They put too much of the special effects garbage (like toilet bowl, bedroom, auditorium, etc.... sound effects which are useless to me) and they could have made a better amp section. I also love Mac amps but could not afford at this time - maybe later. In the mean time I am happy with it. I will update as time goes on.

So coming from a self proclaimed (and friends and family too) audio snob, I can honestly say the Rockville RPA9 is a pretty decent amp. I’ve had it running in my home setup for three days and can honestly say this amp has great sound. All in all I’m pretty happy with it. I’m a collector of fine vintage speakers such as Cerwin Vega, Advent, DCM, Infinity and JBL all from the 80s and 90s. I strongly prefer Crown A/B amplifiers but wanted to give the RPA9 a try. Here’s what I think:Pros:It’s an A/B amp which I prefer to Class D. Class D just sounds so empty and flat. Which is a good thing because you can EQ the sound to your liking. But I enjoy the full bodied warm sound of AB.There is zero noise. Meaning no hiss or hun coming from the speakers when idle or under loadFor an AB amp it’s very lightConnections are easy to get to and manipulateOperationally it’s quiet. The dual fans don’t bother meBoth channels seemingly have equal power output. One does not seem to have more output than the other. My ears are trained for this.XLR balanced inputs and outputs to connect more amps if you desire.Cons:The power supply and transformer are very small. This amp will not give you outdoor concert levels. I believe when this amp has its gain knobs all the way up you are truly using all of its power. There’s no extra headroom. The paint work on mine is full of flaws. The power cord is really small. I’m talking 14 gauge with no built in filter. All in all this isn’t a horrible amp and I do recommend it if you’re looking for an inexpensive amp for your vintage speakers. At its price point and what I’m using it for, I’ll be keeping it inside the rack happily. It will power my Cerwin Vega D2s without any problems.

To anyone that has an Polk Psw505 with a blown amp and wants to bring them to life again this review is for you. I have two psw505s with blown amps, after viewing my options was to either buy an oem amps (250 each ) or an external amp. I decided to go with the rockville RPA9 amp to keep the price down. This amp pushes one or two polk subs on the bridged mode. It’s working out for me, I have a sony receiver with sub out connection so the bass is very clear. Down side is that it does not go as low as with the oem amp. Still shakes the house but nothing like the original. Volume is pretty steady until you hear the sub speaker starts to making small popping noise. This speakers are rated at 300rms and 480 peak amps, I know that they are moving well but they will not hit the lows, so if you like the rattle and ground shacking from the original psw505 you will not get that, instead you will get as low as 30hz and clean bass, don’t get me wrong, they hit really good but I am not going to push them until they pop. For this price I just saved two psw505s from trashing them and also saved about $300 dollars. Very simple wiring just get the right banana receiver plugs and banana wires. I spent on amazon $260 dllrs with wires and connectors, you can always drill the box and splice the wires together (save more $$).

I bought my first stereo in 1972 when I was 16. Became an "audiophile" in my 50's and have bought and sold enough stereo equipment to buy a small house. I recently had to have my vintage Phase Linear 700b amp repaired (vintage gear needs maintenance). This amp and my McIntosh 2270 amp are the nicest sounding amps I have ever owned (for different reasons) I needed a quick back up for a few months until the 700b could be repaired. My vintage AR9's are 4 ohm speakers and require Lots of Power. The RPA9 actually sounds very nice! Being a rock drummer for over 40 years you know PA gear and some amps will handle 4 ohm loads very well. The super inexpensive amp is doing a great job plus it's also pushing (4) 12" woofers! My two other home audio amps are the price of a used car and this amp was about $150 so it is a great buy and does a really nice job. Here's my comparison: A 92' Corvette LT1 is 300 hp, A Dodge HellCat Challenger is 707 hp. BOTH are powerful but different. No need to diss this amp so much. It sounds very good, especially for the amazing price. Very happy as a back-up amp and will keep it for other stuff when the Phase Linear comes back from the shop. Lots of experience means everything people.

Im very pleased with the results of this amp. Both 15" cabinets POUND. I don't run a sub (I don't have one yet) but the amp can do 2 speakers and a sub with Xover support. or run 4 speakers without a sub. Simple to use amp..The fans are loud.. but when you have music on.. YOU WILL NEVER HEAR THEM. so it doesn't matter. but in a studio where its supposed to be quiet... its the loudest thing in the room. hah. don't let that scare you.. its a great amp.. pay more for a quiet amp if you prefer.. but the price was decent....Oh yeah, doesn't seem to run hot..... Amp is cool to the touch.. Fans move a ton of air..Without my pre-amp I Set the gain at 2-3 'o' Clock.. (fairly high) but not maxed out.. Far from it and that's good...now with a pre-amp the gains are at 10-11 and it varies how i setup my pre-amp. great volumes ! either way...

Amazing amp. Drives my 18” subwoofer bass bin exquisitely or put differently it rocks the bass big time. It’s driving a 3000watt peak woofer that kicks ass with the Rockville set at mono bridged!! I love it!!! Excellent value!!! Thinking of buying another one in the new year!!

Do not let the 4 stars fool you it's not a bad product but could be with some missing and cheaply added features.Cons :-The parts are common stock power amp parts nothing special about them- There is no way to control the dual fans speed ( pots should be mandatory on the back of these devices). So it's loud so no way to use this in a studio for close to the Mixing desk.-Can not be used for home theatre use unless its hidden in sound proof closet see above.- The power rating at 8 ohms ( 175x 175 at best ) is nowhere near their rating. Inside the Unit there is not enough Caps to pull the wattage they state ( 2 caps is not going to pull 1200 watts).Pros :-It is built and assembled with good quality-Excellent packaging ( box within main box)- Front Handles!!!! 😂😂😂😂- The back of the unit has tons of connection options this is where this unit even has an advantage over double the price ones.- Clean Sound so this unit does no colour your tone ( very good!!)- Good sized Toroid Transformer so you have some options later on to add some features to this amp.-Direct Outs.... this is a no brainier yet many expensive units do not have these outs!!Overall you may spend less building your own power amp but this unit to me is an excellent starting point due to its price and build.Issues that you may want to fix ( this is on you, you are responsible for what you do yourself)1. Fan noise issue2. Holes for mounting on rack are slightly off3. Remove handles if you want a more clean rack front4. Remove the feet of the unit so it fits in rack easierAfter using it for a week I am okay with it and happy with what it does.Note : The stated wattage of 1000+ watts may be less with the gear you are using.

Using it for powering 2x 18" rockville 4 ohm sub.s. Insane power. Picture frames fell of the wall through out the house thumping some Drum and bass and various rave genres. Pushed sub frequency button on back of amp (simple frequency crossover built in) AWESOME! Simple reliable amp,
