It wasn’t a long build but it was definitely fun and had its challenges. The product had clear instructions and pieces that were easy to remove from the board without damaging them. The little flicker video is super cute and fun to show people. I’d definitely recommend

Got this for my wife for x-mas as a fun little activity for us to work on while we watch TV at night, and couldn't be more please with the result! This was our first 3D style wooden puzzle/model, prior to this we'd done some more advanced lego sets, but this was much more fun and engaging for several reasons....- first, it's challenging....honestly it felt a little overwhelming when we first opened the box and looked through the instructions. It is way harder than the most advanced lego kits out there, because the pieces won't just snap into place automatically. It requires some steady hands and lot of patience for some of the steps, but nothing that requires a Phd or engineering degree- secondly, it looks beautiful! way more appropriate to leave out on the shelf as a decorative piece than a lego toy. It's also fully functioning and self-powered, so no need to ever crack it back open for any reason!Pro tip: some of the earlier steps (especially where you mount the gear wheel to the alternator that powers the light) will result in loose fitting connections that seemingly won't hold....that made me worried about whether this thing would ever work correctly. However, my concerns were unwarranted, because the subsequent steps add in stabilizing bearings and connections that tighten everything up and result in a perfectly working unit at the very end, if you follow all the steps correctly. In fact, I was ultimately extremely impressed with how precisely the pieces were cut and manufactured. The tolerances are all very tight and sturdy and you can tell the designers really prioritized that with this model. 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a challenge, you won't be disappointed!

Note: If you haven't done a wooden puzzle before, this might be a very very challenging one to start with.I had so much fun putting this together! This is most definitely one of the more challenging Rockr puzzles - so make sure you're paying attention to the direction of the pieces (it DOES matter), and reading the directions through before putting it together.I was very lucky that the film instantly latched onto the gears and wasn't a headache as I've seen from other reviews.Overall, a super fun project that took me about 4 hours to put together. The end results was so satisfying!!

My son is an avid builder - legos, origami, tinker crates, ROKR, you name it - if he can build it, he will! He asked for this set for his birthday and he loved putting it together! It worked great and he showed us the little projector slide that comes with it. My only suggestion to ROKR would be to include more than one kind of projector film or a way for kids to create thier own mini movie. Once he built it and watched the slide a few times, he hadn’t really touched it since. I feel it was worth it for him to enjoy assembling and seeing how the mechanism works. More films and things to do with it would be a nice cherry on top. ðŸ‘ðŸ½

I bought this for my 11-year-old son for Christmas and he loved the idea, but he does not have the patience for building kits, unless they are Lego. However, being aware of this, I knew I would be building it so it was mostly a gift for myself that he could then play with afterwards :). I must say that i was very impressed by the quality of the product - the pieces are solid and machined with precision. I thought a few would break when separating them from their sheets but, if you patiently separate the pieces, they come apart well. It does take some patience to build - it took me about 6 hours for this vitascope. There are informative videos that are accessed through QR codes at various stages, which is very helpful, but the instructions are well designed and with a bit of common sense, the kit comes together remarkably well. The finished product is beautiful and works just as advertised. I will DEFINITELY buy another kit for my son for his birthday... ahem... I mean... for myself.I recommend this for anyone who loves building kits and have the patience to do so - a real pleasure!

I loved making my Vitascope. It works perfectly. I use it at school from time to time and the kids are entranced by it. I have had to re-join the film loop several times because the adhesive tape isn't really strong enough, but other that that it is perfect. An excellent project.

very fun to build. take your time when threading the film through at the end. the transparent tape included in the kit, used to " splice" the film ends doesn't hold for very long. a few days after i finished it. i looked up on the shelf and the ends were apart. i thought i'd be smart and use regular scotch tape to join the ends. it held nicely but kept getting jammed up when i turned the crank. the tape gets stuck in the front reel. not sure how to keep the film together more permanently but overall it is a beautiful thing to look at when done. and it does show the film when cranked and used in a dark room. fun

The project really works! It looks nice and cool! It's not easy and you have to be really careful with every single piece as with many other models. I used vaseline in addition to the wax as lubricant for the gears. It was a fun project with my daughter. She did most of it as I guided her through the instructions. You have to be good with fingers and need to know a few small tricks to insert the plastic "locks" for the metal pins.Have fun!
