QUICK TAKEIf you have a Smart TV that is disappointing you, do yourself a favor and get this. You will love it.WHAT I NEEDEDOk ok ok, I'll admit that my Samsung Smart TV is ancient, by most folks standards. It was a display model that I got about 5 years ago and I've always been a bit disappointed by the Smart TV capabilities as they have always been very slow and glitchy. I was never sure if this was the fault of the Apps or the TV, but it took me a very long time to purchase a Roku and that was a dumb decision on my part because this little device has TOTALLY changed the way I use my TV.SETUPThe kit is pretty straightforward and simple. Hook up to the HDMI, stick the receiver on the TV, and initialize the setup. At first I was having issues because when I hooked everything up, the Roku setup couldn't successfully access my WiFi. Initially I was super frustrated and assumed it was the Roku's fault, but at some point I realized that my 2G wifi was down and this was the culprit. Apparently Roku and Ring doorbells and probably a bunch of other devices all can only run on 2G, not 5G, so I had to call my cable company to get that going again and once I did the Roku was able to connect and utterly stupefy me with how wonderful it is.PERFORMANCESo far I have had zero issues with any of these apps, which I used to have constant crash issues with on my Smart TV. For example, my Hulu app would always randomly close and would never allow me to go from episode to episode without an error message. No issues at all with the Roku. I also love that the Roku is always ready, whereas my Smart TV I would turn it on and then have to wait about 3 minutes while the TV "warmed up" and even then usually the first time I'd try to open Hulu it would just crash and I'd have to restart. I love that there are so many available channels, although I was disappointed to find out that my cable provider and Roku have been at an impasse and I can't use the Roku to replace my cable box (hoping that happens someday soon so I can stop wasting money on that box, too).OVERALLAbsolutely 100/10 would recommend, this little thing has brought me so much happiness for such a reasonable price. Bravo, Roku, Bravo! If you are on the fence like I was for years, get off the fence and just buy!

I have purchased 4 or 5 of these and not as a replacement. I’m a truth teller, if the item is not worth it, I will tell you. Now let’s begin. The streaming quality is excellent. It pays for itself. The operational speed is very beneficial, and there’s a positive component to the entertainment value. Whatever your likes, needs & age, there’s something for your entertainment viewing pleasure from classic tv to current. Because I keep the device plugged into the wall, I’m not sure on the battery life. So far the streaming device hasn’t overheated. I’m happy about that. I don’t know what your electrical system entails, just be consistent with monitoring your electrical input/output. Unlike other streaming devices, this device will not freeze up your television screen viewing, and you can have on-screen interaction.

I purchased the Roku Express after hours of research on streaming products. I know streaming is old but it is new to me. This is the first time that I have purchased a streaming device. First, I want to say the set up is quick and easy. I am not a computer geek however this took no time to complete. It included everything that I needed to set up. All I did was connect the cables and plugin.Another thing is there is NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR Activation. The reason I say this is because quite a few people say that it is. Please read the instruction book and use the URL that will take you to Roku.com. It should not take you to a google page. If it does you are on the wrong page. If you use that site you will get a con artist. These people will say that you need to pay to activate. THIS IS NOT TRUE.We are using the Roku in the bedroom. Soon as it was activated it was ready to use. I needed to purchase one for a second tv. The remote that comes with it does not have a volume button. That just means you have to use your regular remote. Or you can make your phone a remote. That set up is so easy. There is plenty to stream for free or other streaming channels you have to purchase.Another thing is, Roku activation does ask for a Credit Card. I do know a lot of people do not want to keep the Roku because of this. At first, I was apprehensive. But you put in a pin. This keeps that anything purchase I have to manually have to authorize it. That makes me feel safe. Any purchases on my credit card I will know right away on my telephone alert. I am finally ready to cut the cable cord. I am tired of paying $200 a month. I am sure I will use Sling TV. Make sure you have a good internet speed. Check how much your uploads are. Just know that Roku itself has a channel for free movies. This little express powerhouse comes with so many movies and hours of entertainment. I am going to buy a second one for sure. Do not hesitate to buy it. Easy setup and hours of entertainment.

I was unsure if the Roku would work with my 20-year-old Panasonic, but it does! The instructions for set-up were quick and easy. I got the streaming device because I already have a Roku TV and knew it would be familiar. I like Roku and its service. They have apps and shows I can relate. I have a Vizio, and it has more apps, but I find nothing relevant to me compared to Roku. I have had more trouble with the Vizio service, internet connections, and longer loading, too. The Vizio service sometimes won't work while the Roku never gives me trouble. I didn't have Amazon Prime at the time and I may try it on another old TV, but for now, I'm very satisfied with my Roku streaming device.
