I've been using the EC-10M live about a year or more. It's easy to use, just clip the little hybrid mic/e-sensor on the rim of the cajon sound hole and plug the cable into the brain, adjust your balance of the audio it picks up, along with the e-sounds in the brain. It also has a mic compressor and threshold adjust for sensitivity of e-drum voices that are really handy and make it possible to trigger the e-sounds level for more versatility. I plug the brain into a sub mixer along with a Yamaha DTX e-drum brain with kick drum & low-hat, then into a Powered Stage monitor with a DI (XLR) into Main PA system. Works like a charm and sounds Amazing with my Minle Bass Cajon. The hardware is rather lightweight, care must be used not to tramp on the plugs on the brain box to hard, which i've done several times as it sits onstage at my feet, but still working fine so far. I will buy another one if it fails, no question. It really up'd my cajon sounds and i really can't complain about anything! I am not aware of ANY other product as of this writing that is in pedal form as an addition to a Cajon that offers actual "Samples" of real instuments. For the ppl who ding it for not being more, i would say they need to be more creative. A little added Reverb and proper EQing makes this unit sound Great. It does several Cajon voices, African Percussion, Snare & even an Electronic Bass drum that THUMPS if you have a decent PA. As usual, thank you Roland! Hope this helps my fellow Musicians. Best Regards :)

Nice unit except for the limited kits and no way yo add your own kits. It seems to be missing a number of drum sounds you would expect to jut be there but they are either poorly done or just missing. The pickup mic and the control of that is very nice to have as it clips right on to the hole of the cajon.

The good: Some really nice sounding effects and easy to adjust settings. Most people like the layered effects it adds to the cajon and it does give the cajon more flexibility in a band playing different genres. The bad: The power cable DC-In should be on the same side as the Mic-In so connecting wires are less cumbersome on stage. Some have complained about its plastic construction, but it seems durable while being lighter than metal. Suggested improvements: 1.) A better looper with a separate button so you don't have to toggle through settings using the same button; expect to connect an actual looper if you like to create loops), 2.) Fully assignable independent foot pedal effects not limited to the preset kit options, and, 3.) A foot actuated main settings button to toggle through functions rather than having to press the small round soft rubber button nested in a raised ridge that prevents non-finger activation. Summary: While a bit pricey, this unit functions pretty well and adds good amplification of the natural cajon sound that's easy to balance with a nice variety of effects. I'd say it's better than getting an all-in-one cajon that has a built-in speaker and effects.

Make any Cajon sound great!...Too much to say about this processor (all good), plus the nice review by Kevin Rose hit all the points. There are several You Tube videos that explain this device in detail and are worth watching. All I know is that I am so happy that I bought the EC-10M and strongly recommend it to any Cajon player.

I have three Cajons an LP Mario Cortez, Schlagwerk 2inOne and an LP American Series. I've tried using this in a live performance and it picks up to much of the resonance sounds which causes delays and it just doesn't work like I was hoping it would. More Roland bells and whistles junk. A wasted $300 bucks.

If you think serious sound samples, don't buy this. Really cheesy sounds. You won't want to introduce the sounds to your friends. It could be fine for fun but I can't use it for my serious performance. I can't believe Roland put these poor cheesy quality sounds into this. And it doesn't work well with my cajon and my performance style.

The EC-10m is a great drum controller! If you already have a cajon, this is a great addition. In my opinion, it is actually more affordable and a better investment than the Roland EC-10 Electronic Cajon.

I've been trying so many ways to get the right live cajon sound. I've now officially tried all the digital options out and none are very good. This one is ok but the triggering is glitchy and there's still the problem of feedback when cranked too high. It's impressive however how it works in theory and it's close but it's not a reliable alternative to electronic drums or drum pads as the triggering is limited..FYI also stay away from the Meinl digital cajon as it's quality is poor and does not hold up to any gigging.
