Love how the spokes DONT overlap and completely till the land. (If you push hard enough and/or run it over the same spot several times it will). But otherwise it can be a good tool just to soften/loose the topsoil or simply aerate portions of the lawn.

I paid good money for sod, which quickly died. I decided I would have to take matters into my own hands, but I would need to get seed down under the layer of dead grass. This spiky tool not only aerated my yard, but also allowed the little seeds to get into space where they could grow! I am not a large person (5'0", 125#) so I had been worried it would be difficult to assemble and use but it was easy. Very effective for my purposes. A great find!

I wanted this to loosen up the topsoil on some dead grass areas I have in my yard thinking it would help when I want to put some seed down.I have very little knowledge on gardening and landscaping, but this tool is good enough for what I need it for.I have never used one before so I can't compare it to other similar tools.I tried it when I first got it in the fall when the ground was much drier and it worked good enough.Today, after some late winter rains when the ground had more moisture, it was much easier. In the video I'm only using one hand to till while the other hand holds the phone. It was much better when I got to use both hands. My yard is mostly clay and rock with very little topsoil. I'm surprised how easy it was to till this area in my yard (again the extra ground moisture was beneficial). The spikes on each wheel are angled in a slight V which helps dig up the ground. The handle comes in 3 parts that go together easily and sturdily.I wish the top of the handle had a hole in it to hang on a hook.

The tool doesn't move smoothly, and the blades are very dull.

I can't tell you why...I just always wanted one. It does a great job in the flower beds and in small areas where you can't get even a battery powered tiller. The tines are sturdy and move well and really break the dirt loose, making it easy to remove grass, weeds and undesired debris. Good material quality - it does not feel like I will break it if I have to apply a bit of pressure. Breaks down easily for storage.
