Product was easy to install and works as intended. I did paint the brackets before installation just to protect them from potential rust but I think that's just personal preference. Seems to be a well made kit.

Lasted less than a year before the plate warped and became unusable. The shock is a little too slow.

The setup does what it's supposed to do and is a really nice feature for the truck. But the plate that attaches to the tailgate flexes/warps easily. I ended up having to get creative to fix it. Had to hammer it back straight and ended up having to use a hose clamp to keep it from moving and further flexing.

I don't know why it so long to buy this simple to install tailgate "Helper". I must admit I had to watch a Youtube video to understand one simple step in the installation, but then...I am simple-minded! If you drive a truck with an unassisted tailgate, save your back and your arms and buy this product.

SUCH a huge improvement to my husband’s truck! The tailgate is SO heavy, and I always struggled to open it without hurting myself. This tailgate assist makes it SOOOOO nice! Highly recommend!! ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»
