This mute provides a warm tone quality with enough volume reduction for me to practice my very loud violin comfortably. I recent bought a very bright violin that has gorgeous tone color, but my left ear was beginning to hurt! This mute is the answer to my difficulties

Have had this for six years and never had an issue with it. I usually keep it on the strings below the bridge and have not had any issue with it affecting tuning or anything else.

The mute was cheap, came fast when i needed it (concert) and works well. However i have a size 16 viola and this thing is hard to get on the string and hard to get over the bridge. Not bad for the product since its meant for violins and smaller violas.

I had bought a couple of these mutes from China. They were so stiff and difficult to put into position that I actually knocked my bridge over twice. In our orchestra two other people had that same problem. Buy this one. It's american made and the holes are larger and the rubber is softer making it very easy to put into position and to remove.

Exactly as described and great price. Easy to get on and off the bridge. I know some people prefer to have the tab that sticks up so you can easily pull it off the bridge, but this one has been easy to use and mutes my violin well. Happy with this purchase!

For practice at home— it won’t do anything for sound. I’m not sure what it would do in an orchestra but I haven’t tested it there yet. It’s simple enough to put on but also very tiny. You’ll be surprised if it’s the first mute you ever see. Keeping mine in the bag when it’s not in use so I don’t lose it

This mute is effective, I already have used this mute for four weeks, it is plastic, so it will not hurt the bridge of the violin, but it can reduce the violin sound on the A string and D string, Probably reduced by 1/3

Wish I could give zero stars. Previously purchased mutes from this vendor were fine. Of these 2, neither had the holes punched all the way through. Tried removing the plus, but the partial punch left irregular holes one one, leading to bouncing and rattling on the strings when not on bridge. One had the teardrop shaped cutout partially punched upside down (point facing instrument so resting on string at larger end of whole). I can't even fit that one on the strings. Rubber is marking, and looks old and ready to tear apart. Awful.
