About this item

  • Reusable cap for the spin Doctor tile leveling system
  • Prevents Uneven tiles when laying floors, especially large format tile.
  • Spaces, levels, and aligns all in one package.
  • To be used with spin Doctor base and shield (sold separately)
  • No additional installation tool needed.

The spin Doctor tile leveling system features a patented free-spin design that allows the cap to spin down the spacer screw with minimal effort. This allows installers to tighten the cap with only one hand, which is especially useful for installing large format tile. When installation is finished simply kick off the caps to remove. The caps and baseplates are sold separately, the caps are reusable for multiple jobs.

I wish I had these devices about 25 years ago when I was laying tile all day long. These Red caps spin on a thin plastic base inserted into the cement (thin set) that is used to adhere your tile to the floor. Shown in the picture is the result of using the spin doctor tile leveling system. I put in this beautiful ceramic floor (that looks like wood), in a smaller bedroom of my house. I hated the old carpet, and finally stripped it out, patched any holes from the concrete nails, then started this project. It has been many years since I installed tile myself, so it did require an investment in a new tile saw. What was remarkable, was the ease of use, and the practicality of this product. I could screw the red cap down and level the edges of adjoining tiles, and at the corners, I used it to level the corners of 4 adjoining tiles. It allowed a perfectly level floor without some tiles lower than others. Always remember to use enough thin set, so just a little squeezes out of all the seam, then clean it out after installing the Spin Doctor levelers. Not using enough thin set makes the tiles sound 'hollow' underneath (because it is hollow, and prone to cracking). I'm now on to the next project which is to finish the side of the house where this project started. You can buy these items at many outlets, but I have discovered that the true savings is when you see competitive pricing through Amazon.... And no, I don't work for Amazon, or like Jeff Bezos.
This is a great chair!

This is a great system. Only these guys had the 3/16 spacers, Lowe’s and home depot only carry 1/16 and 1/8. This leveling system works great. I did a small bathroom prior to this one without using this system and the same tile. It did not turn out as nice. They snap off easy when done.

We installed large format porcelain tiles (12 X 24) in our bathroom and this tile leveling system was easy to use and met our needs. We'll use it again in two other bathrooms. As others have indicated the flatter the sub floor or concrete pad you're working on the better your results will be. This system can compensate for minor imperfections in floor height and/or thinset thickness. Keep the thinset out of the grout lines as much as possible. We also ordered the clear shields because we weren't sure if the red spin-on caps would damage the tiles. Not sure if they helped but they certainly didn't hurt. Spin tops and clear shields are reusable.

We recently switched from wedges to spin doctors. The spinners are definitely easier to use. BUT, buy the clear protective discs to go under the caps. If there is ANY thinset on the face of the tile or the face of the cap, you WILL scratch a horrible circle into your tile

So these red guys, probably 5 stars. But I need to consider that these are used as part of a system. I purchased these, 1/8 inch black spacer guys, and the plastic shields. The red guys worked great. You can actually give them a spin and they are frictionless enough that they spin all the way down to the tile. Pretty easy to tighten from there. However, unlike other systems that have pliers that you can set for a certain tightness, these are done by hand. Its not always easy to know how much to tighten them, and this can lead to the post snapping off. This happened to me twice and girlfriend like 10 times. Luckily, I had purchased another brand for backup that can slip down between already placed tiles and be used to level them.

Great tile spacing and lipase control system. I prefer the controller of these over the wedge base system.

I tried the wedge system first, because it was cheaper. Should've just spent the money and got these. Much easier to use, clean up, and I think the results were better.

We had never tiled a single thing before taking on remodeling our entire master bathroom. We used 18 inch square tiles and this product made it so much easier. We used these on the floor, walls, and in the shower and it all turned out great. It would be extremely difficult to lay large tile without any "lips" without something like this. We put 2 Spin Doctors on each side, and used an entirely different spacer for the corners. We hit the Spin Doctors in the direction of the grout line after 24 hours and every single one broke off as it was supposed to. We have zero complaints about this product.

I am a DIY'er but I do a lot of renos. This system is excellent. Made tiling so much easier not having to fuss over leveling them manually. Just have to remember to put the plastic tabs in before moving to the next tile. Not a normal thought.Adding that it spaces the tile at the same time is fantastic. Easy to spin on/off. Just use a hammer to know them off (go with the tile to knock off)Well worth the money and made my tiling experience far better. Even bought another box of spacers for my next project!

Very nice system but you should think about buying two boxes of the spinners to do a job because you use 8 spinners per tile
