Next to last time I took my Blackstone down to the steel after it sat for too long I ended up using an angle grinder and a various drill mounted wire brushes and abrasive devices. Last time I used one of these and some Sam's oven cleaner and was done in a third of the time with better results.

The pumice stone has been the best application for cleaning the BBQ grills. It does leave a powder-like residue on the grates, but one swift wipe with a damp cloth removes the stone-dust and the grates are almost like new. ADVICE: do not let grates build up with food residue as it takes more effort and stone use to get them back to a workable surface. Highly recommend!!!
