The natural wood from acacia trees gives the set some really beautiful characteristics. Generous diameter and very deep with a large pestle. I grind a lot of herbs, nuts, garlic, and this is perfect. I have other kitchen items made from acacia wood and have some conditioning wax to keep it looking this way, although this set doesn't seem like it would need often at all. Couldn't be happier.

Before I ordered this I was using a bowl to smash up Greenies to sprinkle the powder on wet cat food to get my old cat to eat. (The idea worked !) But, lost more as they shot out of the bowl when I smashed them :) You should have seen the old cat run for the pieces.This, the sides are high and it doesn't do that. It's so easy now. Besides being very useful, it looks great sitting on the kitchen counter. Don't put in a dishwasher, just wipe it out and rinse and your good. A long time ago, I placed my cutting board in the dishwasher and it wasn't long after that, it just separated into pieces :( So I learned my lesson the hard way. Since it is wood, every once and awhile just wipe it out with a little light olive oil. This would also make a great gift if you know anyone that has their own herb garden or buys fresh herbs. I love it.

Very pretty although bigger than expected. Looks nice sitting on my kitchen counter and is also useful.

Looks cool on the kitchen counter. Bought it to make mofongo. Easy to clean and isn’t heavy like the stone ones.

This is quite a large mortar and pestle. I believe it is meant for big jobs. I misjudged its enormity, but it will find its uses in the kitchen at some point. This is inappropriate for grinding a small amount of herbs or spices. I wished there was a version of this half the size.
