Chinrest was misrepresented on Website. I thought I was purchasing an SAS violin chinrest with gold plated metal mounting bracket. Instead, the chinrest has carbon colored mounting bracket that feels like plastic. In any case, it doesn’t hold chinrest securely on instrument. I have used an SAS chin rest with a metal mounting bracket on another violin, and it held securely. The carbon mounting is junk! Don’t waste your money.

I have owned this item for about five months at the time I write this.I was recommended this chin rest by my violin tutor (she uses one herself, and we both have longer necks). This is adjustable, comfortable, well-made, and visually-appealing. It's taller than a normal chin rest, which helps with my posture thanks to my long neck. I have a small issue with the angle adjustment screw not being tight enough. Every few times I play my violin I need to readjust the angle, because my chin pushes it down over a few practise sessions, but that was more of an issue when I played my solid-body electric, and less of a problem with an acoustic which is significantly lighter in weight. The manufacturer is also pretty responsive to questions and support requests by email, which is lovely and helped me figure out a solution for the fact that the body of my electric was too thin to properly fit in the clamp for this chin rest without some kind of spacer.

I have a long neck and narrow, sloped, bony shoulders. The greater height and the shape are more comfortable than most chinrests. It might have been perfect for me, except there are some downsides to take into account if considering this chinrest:1. It uses a single screw to tighten the clamp, rather than two screws/stems. The design isn't sufficient. It can slide around or fall off sometimes. I'm not sure if it's due to the single screw allowing more play/movement, or if the screw is loosening. If it's loosening, then perhaps blue threadlocker might help.2. It has an angle adjustment rail that relies on a set screw that has minimal contact surface to grip and secure the screw. The angle will shift on you unless you modify this. (Maybe electrical tape will help. I don't know.)3. Electric violins often have thinner bodies than acoustic violins, and the clamp does not get narrow enough for electric violins. I had to use 4 pieces of cork padding as spacers to get it to fit.If the design had used two clamp stems/screws with greater range of screw travel to fit more violins, and used fixed positions for the angle adjustment (e.g. holes instead of a rail) to be more secure, this would've been perfect. But as it stands, it has design flaws and I'll either experiment with modifying it or replacing it with a different rest.

Twice I ordered gold plated metal, twice I received "Carbon" plastic bracket. The metal one is great, best rest I ever used. The carbon/plastic is a horrible design change. It cannot tighten enough to be secure, the plastic is too flexible. I tried it on three different fiddled, simply doesn't work. Why did SAS ruin such a beautiful design, and why does EVG keep shipping carbon plastic, instead of gold metal as ordered.

Mfr switched to an inferior quality carbon composite bracket. This listing needs to change if they're going to send me the composite bracket instead of the advertised gold-plated bracket.

I was so much more comfortable playing my viola with the SAS chin rest. Unfortunately, before I got it installed the plastic guard that goes between the top of the bracket and my viola fell off. I thought perhaps I would put in a piece of cork as a buffer but decided not to take a chance on ruining the varnish on my viola so I removed it. I appreciate Amazon's wonderful returns policy.I have purchased from Evergreen through Amazon before and they are an excellent vendor.

This has added some wonderful height for my daughter's playing, but the clamps that secure it to the violin are too shallow. It's fallen off several times, a problem we've never had with any other chin rest.

Molto bella ed elegante. A me però è risultata essere troppo alta, quindi scomoda.
