Mowed over out grounding wire and split it in two. This connector saved the day!

May take a while for anything negative. Worked just as it should.

I installed an electric fence with poly tape, and I tried tying the tape to the wire I used to connect to the solar charging box. I was getting a zap and arch every cycle of the charging box. I got these to make a much more solid and conductive connection between the two, and the arching and cap is gone meaning I’m not wasting battery charge every cycle.

These split bolt connectors are often referred to as Kearnies, sometimes with different spellings. They are used to connect 2 pieces of electrical wire together and make a solid strong ground connection. These Kearnies are made of brass that is coated with copper. That will increase the conductivity and reduce tarnishing. These are good quality and work well for the purpose intended. I don't use a lot of them but when needed they are an indispensable item.

Pure copper, properly formed. Can't go wrong. Yeah, I like completely irreversible connectors, but sometimes you don't have any other choice. You can always use two if you're worried about one becoming lose over time! Good stuff.

Well made. The threads operate nice and smooth. Not all do and you waste time because of this.An easy five stars.

I initially bought #6 connectors for joining 6 AWG wiring. They worked OK for joining two #6 wires, and with a little maneuvering, I was able to join 2 x #6 and 1 x #10 wires. The stranded #6 wires were sometimes a bit of a snug fit. However, I found the bolts to be a bit fragile, and I did break one bolt from overtightening by not very much. I also found them too small to join three #6 wires, and so I bought #4 bolts, which worked well for that. I have now made a second purchase of #4 bolts for joining 2 x #6 wires, as I found them much stronger and easier to use than the #6 bolts with #6 stranded wire.

I bought these split bolt connectors for working with #6 wires because I found them easier for fitting multiple wires and their extra bulk allowed me more torque for tightening without breaking, as happened with the #6 bolts. The delivery time could not be faster than if I collected them myself! (Next day delivery from Ontario to Interior BC.) Try couriering a document that fast! And their fast service has been consistent with each purchase.
