The Schlage BE499WB CEN 622 Encode Plus WiFi Deadbolt Smart Lock is a fantastic upgrade for my home security. The Apple Home Key integration is seamless, and I love being able to unlock my door with just a tap of my iPhone or Apple Watch. The keyless entry is super convenient, and the sleek matte black finish gives it a modern look that fits perfectly with my home’s style.Installation was pretty straightforward, and I was able to connect it to my home WiFi without any issues. The lock works reliably with Apple HomeKit, and I’ve set up automations to lock the door at night and when I leave the house. The ability to create and manage access codes for family members or guests is also a great feature, and the lock provides notifications when it’s locked or unlocked, so I can always keep track of what's happening. The build quality feels robust, and the Century Trim design adds a sleek, minimalist appearance. I’ve used the lock in various weather conditions, and so far, it’s held up great. If you’re looking for a smart lock that integrates with Apple Home and offers both convenience and security, I highly recommend this one. It’s a little pricey, but the features and reliability make it well worth the investment.I loved being able to use my iPhone and Apple Watch to unlock the front door. Worth the money if you walk your dog or take your kids outside and want a simple way in and out.

I’ve had Nest x Yale, two different Level Lock+, and this is the best one by far. Consistently locks without getting stuck, Home Key works wonderfully with watch and phone (once in maybe 25 times, it does not read and I just try it again), and battery life seems great for as much as I use it. It feels very solid and well-made, and installation was no harder than the others. Controlling through HomeKit is great. There is no additional hub or equipment to buy to control my lock anywhere as long as it’s connected to WiFi and my HomeKit device (HomePod or AppleTV). Every once in a while the auto lock does not kick in, but it seems like that is rare, and only when the lock is not fully opened. This is the lock I’ve needed after all the poor performances from Google messing up Nest and the Level locks looking great but constantly having tech issues.

This smart deadbolt is worth every penny! Installation was a breeze, even for someone who isn’t particularly handy. The lock integrates seamlessly with my WiFi and smart home system, allowing me to lock and unlock the door remotely using the app. I love the ability to set temporary access codes for guests, which eliminates the need for spare keys. The design is sleek, and the keypad lights up at night, making it convenient to use. The battery life is excellent so far, and it’s a great upgrade for anyone looking to improve home security.

Happy with purchase. Have not carried keys since I installed.Pros:- Recommended by Wirecutter- Compatible with Android and iOS phones and devices- Program as many codes as you want, and deactivate as necessary- You can have an audit trail (or even a notification) on when codes are used- One button 'lock' button makes it easy to secure the door upon exit- You can set it to 'auto-lock' so your house is protected even when people are forgetful- Don't need to drill any extra holes, this works on most existing doors- Truly a DIY job (even if you're not particularly handy)- Has a keyhole (in case you're afraid of too much 'smart' in your home, like me)- You can get the lock rekeyed at a local locksmith to match the existing keys in your homeCons- It's a little noisy, but not too bad- Different styles have different price pointsTIP: GETTING THE LOCK REKEYED- If your existing locks are Schlage it's an inexpensive and quick job at the local hardware store- If your existing locks are not Schlage, it's still doable, you're better off going to a local locksmith and having them replace the key cyclinder and the rekey to match your existing set. Costs a little more but still not too bad.

UPDATE and some tipsDecided to give a last chance and it worked. If you are going to use the express mode by more than one user. Do not pair the lock with Schlage Home app, use Apple Home app instead. If you need help beyond pairing, call Apple Care service.I succeeded to configure my wife's and my own iPhones. Works fine now with HomeKit in express mode (touch the panel). The mechanical installation is straight forward. Completed it in about 10 minutes....And then comes the fun. Tried following the instructions to pair the lock with my iPhone XS. Didn't work, so I switched to the barcode option. A little bit struggle with that I eventually succeeded (Hurray!!!). Added it to HomeKit and It even works with touch screen (Home Key). Then I tried to add another phone. After another set of struggle succeeded to add it to the other phone Schlage and HomeKit apps, but the Schlage app says the lock is unreachable. The HomeKit says it is not responsive. On the first iPhone is is also says that the lock is not responsive, but it works fine with HomeKit and Home Key. Called the customer service, after waiting online for over 40 min just gave up. Returning it to Amazon.

The lock looks elegant and feels premium quality. It uses NFC to set up on the iPhone Home App, making the setup process easy and error-free. I thought the lock uses WiFi for connection but my router-connected device list doesn't list the lock, making me feel the lock is offline. However, everything still works well. So I searched it up online and realized that it uses Thread for HomeKit integration YAY! I have Eve products for home automation and the Eve app shows the lock under the Thread network. Additionally, the Home Key express mode works like a charm!

I've been looking for a relatively tiny, smart phone operatable, no extra drilling, tough enough, no extra devices like door bell, hub or camera, just a reliable simple to use real LOCK, and this is the one.My front door is a little different from most regular doors, there are windows on the left and right side of it, so no way for me to use long screws, and its faceplate is round, most locks are rectangle, although some brands do have round option, but I have to contact their customer support to get one, that means I have to wait couple of more days to have the job done, I don't like it. Some brands have fancy functions like chimes, hub, camera, fingerprint or even AI feature, they really attracted my eyes, but after carefully research, you either have to buy additional accessories separately, or you have to buy memory card etc. to enjoy the full features. And, I found some fancy locks are made by plastic!! Why bother to install a fancy plastic lock that anyone could kick in?? What's the point to buy a lock in the first place? Then I read a lot of comments of each different lock, I love high-tech stuff too, but many buyers said their camera didn't work after couple of months, or the lock won't connect to its hub and memory card couldn't store videos, or fingerprint doesn't recognize anymore, or the rechargable battery drains fast... I just need a lock, a lock that can let us in and out easily while prevent someone who's not invited from showing up in my house, and it should comes with a physical key just in case something goes wrong, basically that's all I want - and if a lock that can lock/unlock with a smartphone that'd be even better. This Schlage Encode+ Smart Lock has it all, it comes with square and round faceplates and it supoort wifi, I can use my iPhone as a key to lock/unlock the door, no need to put additional devices in place to have the lock fully functional, and it's tiny (at least it looks like a lock) with beautiful looking. Speaking of looking, some locks with fancy functions are really big, I understand when putting camera, doorbell, fingerprint altogether would need a bigger case, but it really looks ugly... it's like sticking a frying pan or brick onto your door, plus some fancy locks are made of plastic or thin aluminum alloy, a screw driver would totally remove the lock in seconds. Anyways, there might be better locks in the market, but they don't fit my door. This Schlage lock meets all my demands, I have to go for it although its price is higher. Conclusion: less fancy stuff, less power consumption and less opportunity to mulfunction. Do not misguided by fancy functions, we are looking for a reliable lock after all.

Installed easily enough (in door and on HomeKit network) and it's working very well for the first week.A couple of considerations that may help you:The instructions only talk about replacing an existing dead bolt but I was adding it to a door that never had one. There was no template or anything included but I got a fairly cheap install kit from Bunnings and that made it relatively easy to get it right. Make sure you get one with imperial measurements and not standard metric. (25.4mm is not 25mm)The bolt needs to fit quite precisely into the plate (there's only maybe 2mm play each side) ... because my door has a bit of play when it closes it was a bit of hit and miss whether the lock would work, so I had to ditch the supplied wall plate and just use the hole I'd drilled into the metal door frame. It's not beautiful but it's reliable.
