Clover is an important part of having a green, low-maintenance lawn that doesn't need a lot of water. Clover's deep roots help your lawn stay greener, longer during short-term drought conditions. Clover also self-fertilizes when you return the clover clippings to the lawn after mowing - meaning less work for you! Scotts Turf Builder Clover Lawn is specially formulated with Strawberry Clover to establish fast and help your lawn thrive. Set your mower to the lowest setting and cut entire lawn before applying this product. Use a Scotts spreader to apply clover seed over existing lawn. Water two time daily to keep the soil surface wet for the first two weeks. Clover will begin to grow in 5-7 days. Once your clover is fully established, mow and return clippings to your lawn for a natural feeding. One 2 lb. bag of Scotts Turf Builder Clover Lawn covers 1,000 sq. ft.

I am in upstate NY. We had a house built and it's on a little hill because of bedrock and ground water, so we had to bring sand fill in to surround the foundation. We put out topsoil and had it hydroseeded. Hardly anything grew. The topsoil didn't really cut it and the grass seed didn't like the sand I guess. That was in the fall, and in the spring there was maybe 5% grass in the area. I decided to go ahead with the clover lawn I wanted anyway, which would add nutrients and help feed the pollinators. Our neighbor keeps honeybees.I got 4 bags of this Scott's clover but only ended up using 2. I planted it in April. Nothing happened. I figured at that point, nothing was going to grow in the sand. Then in June all of the sudden green started to appear. The clover! And WOW did it grow. It came in absolutely beautiful and thick. It just needed the right weather conditions I guess. It grew the whole summer and I think I only mowed it once because it doesn't grow tall like grass. I had a beautiful, thick, vibrant green lawn of clover straight until the snow covered it. I was told it wouldn't come back the next year but it did. This is perennial. Now here I am the following April, and the previously existing well established grass looks like garbage while the clover immediately sprang back to life and turned green. It is really nice.I highly recommend a clover lawn. It acts as fertilizer, somehow grows where the grass won't, helps beneficial bees, and you don't have to mow it like grass.

I love love having clover! And this seed worked perfectly. It's not a mixture of grass and clover, it's just pure clover. Worked best over loose soil or in areas with thinner grass that got lots of sun and moisture. I planted it kind of late in the spring and it really only took hold in one corner of my yard, where the dirt was loose and had already been weeded. By mid-summer, I had a great thick patch and it never got tall enough to need mowing, ever! Can't wait to try again in other areas this coming spring. One bag of this stuff goes a really long way. Somewhere I read to mix the clover seeds with sand (possibly 50/50 or even more?) before you spread it with a spreader. The seeds are teeny tiny and you don't need to spread them at the same rate as grass (or something), so the sand helps evenly disperse them. Mixing it with sand worked perfectly for me.Note, which shouldn't be surprising, but nevertheless: The seeds didn't take hold in packed dirt, or in areas that couldn't get much sun. A truck tire left holes in my lawn, so I filled the holes with soil and spread the clover seeds, thinking they'd mix well with the grass but I think the seed couldn't get enough sun (either from the grass being too shady or from trees) so the holes never filled with much other than weeds. I'll try a different method next time.

After throwing down the seeds over a large spot of my yard I dug up to fix a plumbing problem, I gave it all a light covering of saw dust to help hold the moisture and shield it from the direct sunlight. This seemed to really help it out, as the small area I missed with sawdust was no where near as fast to grow. Watered it daily, just to keep the soil moist and threw down a little bit of lime to counteract my slightly acidic soil.So far, it has survived my 2 dogs running across it and my wife and I carefully walking over it. If it wouldn't block access to the back yard, I would have barricaded it off, but I am very happy it is hearty enough to survive this kind of thing! I also realized far too late that I had comically over-seeded the area, since I was just hand-throwing the seed, but it doesn't seem to have been a problem. The picture of the clover puppies is 2-3 months after planting. It takes a while to establish itself and doesn't show much growth at all for several weeks. I was beginning to think the seeds were duds, then seemingly overnight, the clover exploded out of the ground, so be patient!Supposedly, it will grow in all climate zones, as well as shade/direct sunlight, and is drought resistant. We'll have to see how it handles a frigid Alaskan winter, whether or not it will survive the limited rain under my deck and the area of dense shade. I'm trying to be optimistic, but only time will tell. The product picture makes it look like a deceptively large bag of seeds since it doesn't give you anything for scale, so I was surprised at how small the bag was in real life. I attached a picture to give you an idea of how small of a bag it is. This is why I knocked off a star.

I’ve been using Scotts Turf Builder Clover Lawn for a couple of months now, and it’s been a game-changer for maintaining a greener lawn with minimal effort. The mix of clover provides a lush, green look and requires way less upkeep compared to traditional grass lawns.Pros:Low maintenance: This clover mix really does live up to the "less maintenance" promise. It requires much less watering and mowing than regular grass, which is perfect for those who want a more sustainable lawn.Stays green: Even during dry periods, the clover stays green and vibrant, which helps keep the lawn looking fresh without constant care.Fixes nitrogen naturally: One of the best things about clover is that it naturally fixes nitrogen in the soil, so you don’t have to use as much fertilizer, which is both cost-effective and eco-friendly.Soft underfoot: The clover is soft to walk on, making the lawn comfortable for pets and kids to play on.

Do not recommend this product. Despite following instructions, it had been a month since clover arrived and we seeded our yard and nothing has grown. No sign of clover anywhere. Very disappointed for the price we paid.
