Had to do some snail and grub damage repair. So far great results even with 100 + degree temps. Just checked to see if this blend was producing good root structure on the new grass shoots. So far fantastic results and it has been 8 days. Surprised with the results since the forecast for mid to upper 80's changed to lower 100's which usually means you do it all over again weeks later. There again,found Grass Seed especially blended for our area. Microbial damage from snails and grubs can be a challenge to repair. Using this Starter Blend,which btw,is so easy to apply,and a quality top dressing mix with a locally blended seed hopefully will get us back to a some what normal lawn. Keeping the new seeding moist in our heat can be a bit of a challenge and we learn as we go and grow.

This product is AMAZING! I have to write the 5-star review for it! The corner spots outside and inside my fence are under heavy tree shade with a very bare surface and poor soil condition. I worked so hard and finally got some grasses to germinate and then they just stayed in the shape of baby grasses like forever. After being treated with this Starter Lawn food I could feel the baby grasses are growing and leaves are getting longer! Btw, my cat showed me after the ground was fully dried it’s safe for pets. Excellent greens grade prill size and uniform one compound granules (Fall lawn food is also great in the Scott's line as is Lawn Food but their Summerguard seems poor in quality). On a slope, consider spraying water soluble fertilizers instead of granulars to ensure no inconsistent growth from fertilizer washout.The Solo chest mount spreader is awesome for granular fertilizers (looks stupid, but the only way to spread anything in my opinion). For sprayers, FlowZone is the way to go. With a Flowzone sprayer I'm able to spoon feed young grass with water soluble fertilizers without even walking on it via jet stream on the adjustable nozzle, and the FlowZone can do quick change TeeJet nozzles all day for things like foliar iron and weed control.For granular fertilizers, ProPeat is great, and Humic12 is probably the best humic acid out there (or anything in the N-Ext line). Don't make the same mistake as me by thinking all Humic Acid is created equal. I got the Humic DG (70% Humic, 30% fulvic), but didn't realize the advantages of a true solution Humic for soil integration and nutrient uptake. Anything in the N-Ext line is what you want for humic, and Yard Mastery's pricing is super reasonable. It looks like you're getting a lot less humic per dollar vs. the DG, but your soil will thank you when it actually penetrates and gets black!For synthetic fertilizers it comes down to the NPK numbers, the prill size, and a non-differentiated chemistry from one prill to the next is a plus... like most of the Scott's fertilizers, the starter fertilizer checks all those boxes as a high wuality product.

I had planted some grass seed, covered it with an 3/4 inch of soil, to patch a bare area. I watered it 3 times daily and the grass seed was so slow to grow. After about 7 days I was getting concerned so I bought this Scott's starter fertilizer and scattered some on top of the planted area, this was about 11am. I watered before dusk. The next morning I noticed grass starting to pop up. I watered again and by 5pm I had grass growing up to 3/4 inch. Almost like a miracle. So my opinion is this starter fertilizer works very well and based on what I have seen I would not plant grass seed without adding it from day one.
