If these guys hold up well getting rained on.. and they should for a couple of years.. as combined w the small Suspenz horses marketed by NRS and sold for less here on Amazon.. work really well together for my OC1 parking at home. I’m sure they’d also be excellent for kayaks, surfskis, etc. They add this great rounded perch and keep those stands fully open. Thumbs up!

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The top of my car has what I call a "shark fin" radio unit. So I had to make sure my kayak was above the fin. These fit well onto my aftermarket roof rack cross bars. Raised the kayak just high enough over and in general did really well. I took them off after I moved the Kayak and the look to be made of a foam that will last. Overall great buy.

Have not hauled kayaks with these yet, but they look good.Installed them on roof rack of our Jeep Grand Cherokee.I noticed a few complaints about them coming off because of the slot on the bottom. So each one got 3 crosswise strips of strong black duct tape, one at each end, one in the middle the went all the way around and back across itself. This held the slot closed with it in place on the bar. Then a lengthwise strip the full length of the slot. While they can be moved, it takes a fair amount of force.Shows no sign of wanting to "roll" off the bar once I did this for each one. Takes a good solid shove and does not wiggle, just gives a bit.I like how firm the foam is, should give great solid support to a kayak without mushing out of shape.I'll try to update after I've had a chance to haul with them. But at this point I am very happy with my purchase.

Nicely angled to accommodate the curvature of my kayak bottom. They fit easily onto the stock rack of my Rav 4, which has wide, flat cross bars, rather than rounded. Would also work fine on a more rounded bar, or simply on the strong points of your car’s roof top, in the absence of and rack system.

I use these foam blocks only for local transport of my kayak and haven't tried them for travel on higher speed limit roads, so I can't comment on their suitability for that. The blocks aren't difficult to install, although you might find you need to adjust them once you've loaded your kayak or canoe, because they tend to flop over or shift. Still, compared to rigid kayak carriers these are easier to use for the initial loading of the kayak.FWIW: I have a Toyota Rav4 with roof rack and Malone cross bars. I use these foam blocks for transporting my Dagger Zydeco 9 foot kayak.I wouldn't recommend using these foam blocks (or any foam blocks) if you don't have a roof rack with cross bars. You really need to cinch your straps down tight to hold your kayak securely, and without cross bars I have to think you run the risk of denting your car's roof or scratching the paint.I think they're way overpriced, but so are just about all the foam blocks (the ones designed for kayaks and canoes) you see online or in stores. It's a relatively inexpensive alternative to more substantial kayak carriers, and if all you're doing is hauling your kayak to a local lake or stream they'll serve the purpose.

so glad i bought these! i have a 9ft sit on top ocean kayak - the cup shape of these isn't quite the shape of my kayak but once i get my trusty ole ratchet straps on the job there is nothing moving! They give some cushion between your yak and roof bars and is sooo much easier on the yak. Also, I have the suction cup wheely dealy that helps load the yak on top of car by myself - these foam cupped blocks are soooo awesome with that loading system as the kayak is simply guided in to place without sliding off the bars and crashing on my vehicle and falling to the ground. I highly recommend.

Given the over-engineered and over-priced racks on the market, these little foam pads do what they're supposed to. I needed to get two kayaks onto my Saturn VUE, but refused to spend almost as much on the rack as the boat! Bingo! Two pairs. side-by-side, a couple of 12' nylon belts (one pair for each boat) on my car's own roof racks, and some bungee chords bow and stern and, "Voila!" Safe, convenient, inexpensive portaging for one or two kayaks. PS: If the boats are going to stay on the car roof for any length of time, try to place them hull-up to prevent rain from filling them up! PPS: Years ago there were foam pads in the shape of a bone, called "BONZ". They were wonderful for stacking a kayak on top of a canoe or another kayak. I'd love to see them available again!

Since neither of our vehicles have luggage rails on them we needed something to protect our roofs when transporting our kayaks. We've used them all summer and they do a good job of protecting the roof and stabilizing the kayaks when transporting them. Since they are designed to fit over roof racks we filled the gaps in them with foam "fanoodles" to make them stiffer. My only complaint is that the material they put on the bottom to keep them from sliding is somewhat hard on the clearcoat finish on the cars - like a very, very, very fine grit sandpaper would be. Other than that they work great and we are very happy with them. They seem to be holding up well so far.

It was not a kit. All I received was 2 blocks, no straps. What the heck am I supposed to do without the rest of it???

This foam is not shaped as shown. The picture perspective is misleading. Not suitable for a skinny kayak.
