I’m using these to protect the canoe’s gunwales from getting scratched by the trailer’s rails. The crisscross cutouts in the pads help keep the pads in place. Looks like they’d work well on a roof rack. The tie downs aren’t the nicest I’ve seen but they’re functional. The whole set comes with a nylon bag to keep it all together.

All components of this set fit nicely in plastic bag with a drawstring top (provided), and all looks to be of more than adequate quality. Simply judging from appearances and before actually using this to mount my canoe, it exceeds my expectations. I was especially appreciative of a clear instruction sheet, showing how to use these to set up a canoe with or without cross-bars on a roof rack. We have one car with and one without crossbars, and it's nice to know that I can use this set on either one. I also liked that all components fit nicely in a snug bag for ease of storage and transport.

4 foam blocks, 2 ropes and 2 straps is plenty to get a canoe on top of my minivan for local travel. I used a couple more straps I owned for a 2 hour trip just to be safe. And I did purchase some loops for under the hood and trunk (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TWKXNT2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) because it's mostly plastic underneath with nothing to latch onto AND ALSO some of these nifty little clips (https://smile.amazon.com/cualquier-equipaje-superior-impermeable-patentes/dp/B07F72VM6J/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rooftop+cargo+hooks&qid=1597164742&sr=8-3) for door frames so you don't have to run the straps through the vehicle. Only gave it 4 stars because I can tell the foam won't last insanely long but for sure a couple of summers use so it's good for the price!

the rubber blocks are very well made, straps are cheap. very difficult to get a boat tied down tight / secure enough for highway car topping. (i am very experienced at this having hauled boats and gear all over US on cartop).best to attach front / back tiedowns to front back thwarts so you can pull straps to take out the slack. if front and back straps are vertical to the boat ends, this will allow for shifting of boat front / back.product is good for what it is, but this system is just not a good solution for car topping transport.

This has been great for helping support my canoe on my truck. I have a rack but needed support over the cab. I have used this for a 300 mile round trip and it held up well. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a product like this.

I needed something fast to get a new to me canoe home. Well this was something, it arrived fast and it got the canoe home undamaged. And it was cheap. Other than that, it’s garbage. I used it once and one of the foam blocks is already torn both at the gunnel AND at the crossbar (neither opening is really big enough for its intended purpose). In addition, the straps came frayed and only got worse on the drive home. The quality of the straps is questionable, but they did hold for the one trip. Not sure I will use this again.

I didn’t use the blocks but the rest of the kit is extremely useful. Straps are ok , and even have paint protectors on them. The guy lines are of good quality rope. I am sure the blocks are useful if you don’t have a rack. I keep them to add height for clearance of my bike rack.
