Needed a cab for an Eminence Cannabis Rex. I wanted something big and open back and this seemed to be the ticket. It's fairly light for it's size, the tolex is understandably the cheaper thinner stuff but it's applied very evenly and there is no excess glue. The front mesh is a very thick and stiff fabric not thing like I had feared so it should hold up fairly well. The hardware it comes with so far seems to be solid and only time will tell how they hold up. Note that the wiring appears to be 16awg and is pre-crimped with clip-ons so for those who run those (I personally do) it's all ready to run, it's easy to cut and strip if you prefer soldered connections. The wiring was plenty long enough and the connection at the jacks (wired for parallel) was also solid. I had some 12awg wire on standby but opted to leave the stock stuff in as everything passed the eye test.Inside of the cab the construction looks to be very solid, didn't see any excess glue on the joints and the cuts were acceptable and not overly rough. Though it is technically rear loadable you might want to remove the threaded inserts and go with wood/machine screws if you are rear mounting it as those inserts would prevent the speaker from sitting flush against the rear. Front loaded speakers should be good to go with either the inserts or screws. Would buy it again in an instant and might grab their closed back 1x12 for a Celestion g12H.I'd like to add that the shipping was ridiculously fast, ordered on a Saturday evening, received on Monday. I live in California (where Seismic ships from) so your experience here will differ depending on where you live. Very affordable, lightweight, well built and looks very nice.

I loaded this with an Eminence Cannabis Rex. This cabinet sounds killer! Warm, punchy, tight. All around great. Sturdy, not too heavy. Interestingly, the plywood is actually a little thicker than the advertised 1/2", It's about 5/8", which is great. Nice job on the Tolex covering, piping and grill. Sorry Seismic, but I peeled the logo off with a heat gun and a plastic putty knife so I can add my own custom logo. Logo came off pretty cleanly with just a couple little marks. Highly recommend this cabinet. Nothing comes close to this level of quality in this price range.

Seismic Audio - 12" GUITAR SPEAKER CABINET EMPTY - 7 Ply Birch - Speakerless 1x12 Cab. Quality built plywood which is better than particle board, but poor factory quality control. Obvious defect on the front grill but still shipped out. Will need to send back. Very wasteful of everyone's time and the return shipping costs when things are not properly inspected before leaving the factory. Photos show grill in fully closed position.

PRO’s:• Very nice birch wood (not particle board or pine plywood).• Put together very solidly. No errors on the construction that I can see. As good as 'high end' cabinet builds.• Light weight, weighing in at only 30 pounds after I put my light weight neodymium Eminence speaker in it.• The tone and power of my Roland 80 watt head have greatly improved.• The price is right. You can’t build a speaker cabinet for the price you can outright buy this cabinet.• It was a little bit larger than what I really wanted, but acceptable.CON’s:• I wanted to mount the speaker from the back (not the front). But, there were a couple issues, starting with the holes that didn’t line up. Whether you mount from the front or the back, either way... the holes didn't line up.• Also, there were wood screws holding the bolt mounts into the wood on the inside. This prevented me from a clean, flush mount of the speaker against the wood.• As a result of these mounting issues, I completely had to remove the mounting inserts. Rather than using a bolt through the wood, I just used short wood screws to mount the speaker. (Like some manufactures do anyway). Because the wood is birch and somewhat thick, this did not present a problem. This made the speaker mount quick and solid. So I bypassed the mounting issues by a simple wood screw mount from the inside.• The vinyl cover and handle are on the ‘cheap’ side, but they do the job. If the handle fails or the vinyl starts ripping, I’ll do the needful to repair it.• I didn’t like the speaker cloth on the front because the cloth was lying directly on the mounting board and that may have caused vibrations at certain frequencies. Generally speaking, speaker cloth should not be in direct contact with any wood, but must be mounted from the parameter in a ‘free flowing’ type of method. So, I decided to just leave this off and go with a light weight metal speaker cover mount. It worked out perfect, and actually reduced the weight a bit. Amazon has them for only $10 or $12 bucks. Plus, the white rubber around the speaker cloth looked kind of 'tacky' to me. I couldn't stand it.• Finally, I didn’t like the gigantic Seismic logo at all. If it was smaller and off to the side, it may have been OK. Nothing against the Seismic brand, but it was like a gigantic billboard advertisement and I had to remove it. However, some vinyl damage resulted because it was glued and not screwed to the board. I covered the damaged vinyl area with Velcro, and now it looks OK. I’ll create my own logo later and mount it there if I want. Otherwise I'll go with the way it is.All in all... this cabinet is a great value and I would purchase it again, even with the mounting challenges of the speaker.

Nice cabinet construction, except it looks like they cut the opening for the speaker with a jig saw instead of a router. The hole is jagged which makes speaker placement off. There are 4 T-nuts mounted in the cabinet which requires 8 to mount a speaker, and the nuts and screws are too small.

I have 2 of these now. Here’s my review:Fit and finish:The finish is pretty good. They seem strong and are put together well (no finger joints apparently). The only thing is the tolex on one of mine has a few bubbles and isn’t really glued on all that well. (See pictures). The speaker mounting screws they provide you with are way too long. If I used them, they would go through the speaker, through the plywood and stick right through the front tolex by half an inch on the other side (see pic). I ended up just using wood screws to mount the speakers for now until I can get some smaller screws that fit.Sound:These are big cabinets! The bass is tight, the sound is awesome!! I have one loaded with an eminence governor and one loaded with an eminence JetCity stock speaker (not the vintage one).Overall, I spent $100 Canadian on each cabinet on sale and they were shipped for free. I probably couldn’t have bought all the material to build them on my own for that price so I’m super happy with them!!

This cab is the deal of the century. Well built, made with real wood, no MDF, joints are well made, no rattle, back panels can be easily removed if you want a full open back. Speaker mounts and screws are included, long wire for connecting speakers. The only downside is the piping which is very badly made, it is all screwy and wrong, staples even show. Put some tape around the front panel to hide the staples and the screwy piping sides and you've got a birch cab for next to nothing. I would not drop it down a stair case ... I pretty sure it won't survive like an Avatar or an Orange PPC would ... but then again, it's one third of the price!
