Smaller Backlash
Compared to the generic boring head on the market, the main lead screw has minimum amount of backlash in 5 graduation while the generic model has around 10 graduation. Smaller backlash allows the operator to be able to dial in on the desired travel much easier.

This boring head kit was impressively packaged and thoroughly coated in protective oil. Above-average Chinese quality, which is more or less what Shars is known for. I half suspect this is the same boring head sold everywhere else, just with "Shars" laser engraved on it, and maybe some additional quality checks.To adapt it to the Tormach TTS system, I cut about half the shank off and chamfered the edge. I have not machined the recess (the lip on top of the main body), but doesn't appear to affect anything.One annoying thing is that it requires three different size hex keys. Blondihacks mentioned in one of her videos that more expensive units utilize one key. That would definitely be nice.

Works okay, have busted one of the boring bars already . . . Milling aluminum with a 50thou cut. should not have broken.....

I test the tool boring tool and measured diameters compare to tool readout. Works well for me. The boring bars actually cut very smooth.
