Product Description

Before the plating process can begin, parts must be clean and free from dirt, corrosion, and defects. A combination of heat treating, cleaning, masking, pickling, and etching might be employed to clean and protect the part during the plating process. Once prepared, the part is immersed in an electrolyte solution and serves as the cathode. The nickel anode dissolves into the electrolyte, forming nickel ions that travel through the solution and deposit onto the cathode.

I am working on a DIY nickel plating setup. I could go out and buy a set from a well known plating company, but I thought if I could do it at home, I could save myself $500. These anodes do the trick. I am still trying to dial in my setup, but they do add a nice coating of nickel. If you are in need of something like this, this should do the trick.

(Please first note that the scrap piece of brass in the photo is exactly that, scrap. It has deep scratches on it and was sitting in plating solution at an angle. Just a test piece)Definitely real, solid, nickel. I used in conjunction with Gold Plating Services Nickel Plating Solution, tested on a piece of scrap 360 brass at 3.30VDC and was very happy. Especially for the price. Typically go to McMaster for this kind of stuff but they have a 7 week lead time at the moment and the same item cost 3x as much.

I received exactly what was described within 48 hours. It was well packaged in a suitable plastic sealed envelope. The anode plated worked well for its intended purpose. Kinda pricey but would purchase again.

Used these to make a nickel plating solution. Ram it for a few hours and did not deteriorate as much as expected. Should be able to get a free liters of solution before it’s unusable.
