This came well packed and airtight, so it's ready to use upon arrival and won't need drying out first. My use case is to make pouches to store in musical instrument cases and elsewhere where I'd like to control humidity - I'm sick of buying low quality premade pouches that never seem to be durable or big enough. This is much cheaper by weight than premade pouches I've used in the past, as well. The one big drawback is that the particle size is very, very small. This is more like fine sand than the bead-type crystals that come in some premade pouches. This results in a lot of mess and difficulty handling, but it's more of a slight frustration than a serious issue. I'd imagine it would be challenging to get all the residual dust off a dried flower, even with the little brush that's included.

First time trying to dehydrate flower using silica. I did 3 red roses, they are darker as I expected but turned out great and was easy to do. Only thing I had trouble with was getting the silica out without damaging.

This is the second brand I tried in silica gel for drying flowers. This silica gel (Witvalism Silica Gel Flower Drying, 2.5 LBS Premium Flower Drying Silica Gel Crystals, Color Indicating, Reusable, Upgraded Bead Size (I thought the flowers I dried that was from the same roses looked similar and the fine grains were similar. This one is not has dusty as the first brand. I did accidentally leave it for over two weeks so my flowers were a bit overdried. I think it has good potential and I didn't mind the resealable bag that it came in, it was surprisingly not messy but it was also in the middle as far as ease of pouring/scooping and storage.I like how it kept that pink color on my roses looking pretty good. More experimenting will need to be done and I had a lot of fun with this new hobby. I'm glad I was able to get this to try out, it was easy to use and plenty of sand to do what I need, it just worked well.

this is a really good price for the amount of silica you get along with the scoop and brush but this is the dustiest silica i’ve ever used. like to the point that i’m dreading having to re-bag it because the dust cloud it creates is insane. i’d spend the extra couple bucks to avoid how dusty this is. definitely don’t want to be breathing in any silica!

This is brilliant! The pictures I posted are of some clearance Walmart flowers. They looked like they had been through the wringer, so I chose the 3 best ones. I got a shoebox sized plastic container and the 2.5 lb bag barely covered a 1/4 of the box. I had to mound it over the 2 best flowers and do the last flower in halves (I flipped it midweek). It’s really deceptive stuff! The flowers look the same coming out as they did going in, so it’s hard to tell when they’re done. I just left them in a week because the instructions say 5-7 days. I love the fact that I can recharge these in the oven. But honestly, the 3 flowers that I did barely made any of the crystals green. So I can turn around and put more flowers right back in without doing anything. This would be amazing to have for the special occasion flowers that you want to last forever. Now that I know it works, I’m going to invest in some better looking flowers. Until then I’ll enjoy the beauty these crystals added to the cheap ones.
