Mini Quick Change Tool Holder Tool Accessories

I have a OXA dovetail style tool post holder on my first lathe, but when I got a second lathe I figured I would try one of these less expensive kits for tool holders. The OXA kit is 3-4 times as much and slightly larger so take that into account. While the build quality of this kit seems fine, the tool post does not hold the tool holder well at all. You have to be really careful to get these in there such that they do not rock when tying to cut. And if they rock at all the center height winds up off. Anyway, I'm no machinist, but I am experienced in running small hobby lathes, and can normally get a good surface finish on most materials, but not with this kit. I just can't get it to hold well enough. For $30 though, what can you expect? I will likely ditch this kit and get another OXA set.

Avoid this product.The handle is attached to the body with the equivalent of an M3 grub screw. This screw WILL break when you lock a tool into the post.

bought this based on the price since it was much cheaper than some other brands. I've used it several times now on my harbor freight mini lathe and it works good. I'm not an expert machinist so does what I need. I did have to drill and tap the stud for the lever/handle that spins since it comes with a M5 x.8 stud that snapped on me so turned my own handle with M6 threads and been great since. Also, the studs on the tool holders are a little short, so bought longer M5 x .8 studs so I can lock them in with the lock nut. Overall, I'm happy I got it, but needed a little fine tuning.

This isn't the greatest one in the world but I didn't pay for the greatest. It's well worth what I paid. I bought a mini lathe and needed this to make life a little easier and it has. It's way better than my expectations.

set screw in the lock handle is to short,very easy to rip out,longer set screw solved the problem
