Easy to use, and install. Sometimes I wish they made it a bit harder to get going. Always use to look forward to those little install challenges. Not any more with SimpliSafe. It’s crazy… pull the battery tab and find a suitable location.How ever, some feed back. I feel like fire/co alarms have gotten to sensitive to some stuff. Would be nice to adjust some of it. I understand why they don’t. Also allowing you to pick out the alarm bell sound. With these products, I feel like some of these bell sounds blend.Otherwise, this is the best purchase for anyone with a SimpliSafe system. Don’t waste money on a 59.99 Home Depot special.

All smoke and CO detectors fail evetually. They have a limited lifespan and I wouldn't trust any that are more than 10 years old.I recently bought 5 Simplisafe smoke detectors and one of them failed within a few weeks.So, why the 5-star rating?I've had plenty of these devices from other companies go belly-up prematurely, so I'm not too surprised that a Simplisafe one failed. Fortunately, I have a premium subscription to the Simplisafe service, and that entitles you to a lifetime warranty on all their devices. I contacted the company and - after some troubleshooting and testing - they sent me a new replacement unit free of charge. I just have to mail them back the defective smoke detector. They pay the postage.Hardware is hardware, and any electronic device may die. Simplisafe probably uses the same manufacturers as other companies, but if you have their excellent premium alarm coverage at least you don't have to worry about paying for device failures.Highly recommended if you have a premium Simplisafe plan already. BTW, it's a great service.

Aside from the SimpliSafe motion sensors, the SimpliSafe Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector is probably the best accessory in the SimpliSafe line of security products (because unlike other SimpliSafe products, when activated, the SimpliSafe client gets an immediate telephone call for the SimpliSafe 24-hour monitoring support team -- to verify the condition of triggering alarm).Nevertheless, the SimpliSafe (Internet) security system can be hack and compromised (as well as the ADT Home Security System, which uses a "land line" and many others), causing strangers and unwanted people to freely enter and exit your dwelling[s] without your permission. So, please be aware and try to "layer" your home security system in the best ways possible.

This Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector is very small in size compared to Nest's offerings, and doesn't need a Wi-Fi network to work. The Nest ones require WPA2 wireless networks and IPv6 to work, which isn't ideal. However, this detector drains batteries very fast. I hope they can release a wired version that doesn't need users to get up their ladders every few months!
