This sander is much quieter than my old Craftsman sander, which finally quit after years of use; the latter's switch quit working well before its demise. This one performs very well indeed, and while loading the sandpaper is a bit cumbersome, it stays on until the paper loses grit or tears due to nail heads or other irregular features on the item being sanded. The dust collector is a plus; I have yet to employ the vacuum hose attachment feature. If the latter works well, it's a coup. I've used it for several months ;it's working well so far. It appears to be a good acquisition for not much money.

This sander works well for sanding and it is not too loud. I do not use the pressure gauge so I cannot speak to that.The dust collector works by punching holes in the sandpaper with the provided template. The idea is the dust is sucked up through the holes into the dust bin on the sander. The issue is that the template does not cleanly remove the sandpaper from the hole and it blocks the dust from getting to the collector. I end up with more dust on the floor around the piece that I am sanding than in the dust bin. The holes in the sandpaper also provide an easy place for the sandpaper to start tearing.

This was a replacement for a 20 year old B&D palm sander my mother passed down from her projects. The dust filter is easy to clean and traps most of the dust. It’s still highly advisable to wear a mask. Attaching the paper is pretty simple and easy if you are patient. I’ve found this goes into corners and tight spaces pretty well. I’ve disassembled teak chairs and refinishing them. It was relatively inexpensive, well made and it takes out rough spots, varnish and nicks very easily.

I am a big Porter Cable tool user. Didn't care for the hand grip on their sander. So I got this Skil, since I bought their table saw which is great. Sander does a really good job. Hand grip comfortable. Plenty of power. I was sanding outside so didn't use filter. What comes with the tool is a few pieces of pre cut sand paper, very rough grit, maybe 60 grit. So would be very hard to mount onto pad. I was using 120 and 180 grit. What I did was to take a standard size piece of sand paper, use their rough grit piece as a template, cut out my own pieces, just cut the length 1/8 inch longer for easier installation. Worked great that way. Not exactly sure what the hole puncher was for, maybe needed for the filters to be used.

The negative was the pressure - needed more power than I had- to keep the pressure even I actually thought since it was an electric it would help with the pressure.

Compre esta lijadora para trabajar algunos proyectos de carpinterÃa en casa, no me decepciono su rendimiento y por el costo beneficio del equipo estoy muy contento.Espero que las piezas tengan una buena duración y la marca Skill vende muy buenos productos a un precio competitivo , posiblemente no sean de uso industrial o profesional pero si no les das un uso de esos , los equipos te darán muy buenos años de servicio y satisfacción a un precio adecuado no equiparable a las marcas mas costosas.

Tuve recientemente una lijadora makita, la cual murio rapidamente al paso de 3 usos (no se la razon) la cual amazon me reembolso rapidamente, despues adquiri esta, ya que le tengo confianza a la marca BOSCH, sin importarme los comentarios de todos aqui y en amazon USA me arriesgue a adquirirla.Y vaya impresion! lo que para unos es complicado ajustar la lija, a mi me beneficia ya que queda perfectamente ajustada de cada lado y no da facilidad a dejarla floja, a mi parecer es mucho muy superior a la makita que tuve, desde el motor que se escucha mas potente, y mas parejo a la hora de lijar. No tengo idea del porque rompan la lija, a mi no me ha roto ninguna,ha funcionado perfectamenteel acabado si parece ser de menor calidad que la makita, el plastico se siente un poco mas economico, pero la maquina me parece excelente, y ya lleva varios usos, aunque no tan prolongados como fue makitaEl contenedor de polvo es genial, desde facil instalacion, de plastico rigido transparente, linda estetica, y puedo ver si se llena, la makita era una bolsa negra de tela que con los pequeños raspones que se da en la madera comienza a romperseEn fin no vuelvo a confiar en una lijadora makita por su renombre, tengo esta y una de banda tambien Skil y ambas me gustan mucho

Very easy to use and works well. Could have been a bit more powerful so that the sanding becomes more effective. Very good product for the household anyways.
