This strobe works well if the area in which it is installed is very dark. However, if there is too much ambient light, the strobe light is too muted. Note that mine is the red color. I guess it's possible that a different color lens might be better with ambient light around. But, based on my red lens, it is not very bright with other lights around.The light does have many settings with which to change to type of strobe pattern you desire. It seems quite functional. Also, it is low voltage, which is appealing to me as a home DIY user.The included screws do not seem long enough for most applications. I used different screws which are longer and, thus, get a better grip where they are attached.It's about average overall.

It is well made and has a number of options including an internal battery back (not listed in the specs)You have to remove two screws to get to the battery holder (a 9 volt), so it is not that easy to use, but if you installed a battery in there you could operate the strobe for about 10 hours.The speed of flashing is adjustable with an internal pot. I have mine set for a rotating pattern (all dip switches off) and it draws about 30mA at 13 volts.It is not very bright in daytime, but good at night.
