The black SBR rubber sheet is 70 Shore A and has a smooth finish. SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) is a synthetic rubber that provides good abrasion resistance. A hardness measurement of 70 Shore A means the material has a hard surface for good penetration and wear resistance.
Rubber is a strong, flexible material that provides good insulation and shock absorption. Some types of rubber may be weather or chemical resistant and withstand high temperatures. Wear resistance is the degree to which the rubber resists abrasion. Hardness is measured with scales Shore D, Shore OO, and Shore A, which is the most common scale. A higher number means the material is harder and more resistant to penetration. A lower number means the material is softer and more flexible. Tensile strength, used to indicate the material’s overall strength, is the peak stress it can withstand before it breaks.

These arrived on time and perfectly packed. The banding on all 4 side was done very nicely and the shelf was cut exactly to the correct size. They look really nice and wipe clean so easily. Great purchase!

This thick rubber pad is strong enough that I can rest my 72 lb kettlebell on it, without worrying about scratching up my apartment floor!

this has stinky tire smell as other have said. the bigger priblem is that this is not one homoginous piece of rubber. this is a milti layer hunk of rubber made of four 1/8" sheets glued up. it has some delamination on edges but not a disastrous problem. another big issue is that its not flat and was glued up on a cylinder. this composite rubber has a permanent curve in a 12"x12" piece. i tried heat and all sorts of rubber tricks but its not going flat or even flatish. *grrr!* so it is a springy mat for chisel and other edge work in leather it other materials. my uhmwpe cutting board just looks like a seesaw on it -.- oh well... maybe some bolts er something will hold it as one piece.

I couldn't find commercially available rubber walking stick ends of decent quality so I decided to try and reproduce some myself. I used a 3/4" hollow punch drivin with a small sledge hammer to get through the rubber sheet and they worked perfectly! The rubber mates up precisely with the 3/4" width of my walking stick ferrules and has just the right amount of give and friction.
