This thing makes my ridiculously expensive iPhone 16 Pro feel like it’s incapsulated in a steel battle suit. Then it can deploy its inner self when you need a smaller profile. The best part, the thick plate around the cameras (why you dropped the extra $$$) stays with the phone. I got this to mount on tripod with the threads or use other accessories for making small vids. I will likely keep the cage on 99% of the time because it’s awesome (has cold shoes, thread, and other quick attach spots for other a small rig stuff)

The cage is fantastic, and for the price of a standard phone case from Verizon, it’s a no brainerWhile I purchased it specifically for film use (I’m a photojournalist by trade, and find myself using my phone more and more) the rubber insert case that goes inside the cage is good as well.No bells and whistles on the rubber case, very simple, all the buttons line up just fine. OCCASIONAL issue with the charging port on some larger cables. I frequently dock my phone for editing, and the dock cable is just too large to fit in the case.The cage itself is great. It works great with the handles, shotgun mic, and external storage I was using previously. No issues at all with the cage.

This phone cage is great and remarkably versatile, making it a fantastic choice for various applications. One of its standout features is the quick-release handles, which are incredibly handy and user-friendly. I'm using this to use my iPhone as an external monitor for my Sony camera. This cage makes my phone look like a professional monitor and easily connectes to my cage. Haven't used the handles much but I can see them being helpful if I decided to use the phone to record video instead. Its well built and should provide some protection if the phone is dropped. Its a really cool accessory that you should definitely consider if you're into shooting video!

This SMALLRIG iPhone 16 Pro phone rig kit Model #5005 is no doubt best in class!I've owned many Smallrig products throughout the years and they do not disappoint; it's clear they're a brand of content creators who truly design with content creators in mind.Theres similar variations of camera kits on the market but this is the one, the last one I will buy for my iPhone 16. Well unless of course they design a better one lol.What sets this apart from the rest is overall build quality and versatile features. Unlike others on the market with a similar aesthetic this one has dual lanyard holes which accommodate a neck strap as well as a sling.The value! This kit is priced VERY well! The quality is above the rest and yet their price is still inline with the market. This kit is super lightweight making it perfect for content creators on the move. It's quick release features is a must have feature for it aids in healthy and efficient time management; allowing you to focus on creating without slowing you down.Overall this kit is of great value in more ways than one. CNC execution and mechanical design are tops, almost no complaints. Great ergonomics, most things are absolutely great. Deserves high praise, therefore let me concentrate just on the negatives:1. The beautiful rubberized detachment clips "speak louder" than the handles themselves. Any person I hand the rig to immediately starts repositioning the handles all the way around. They are that good, they are that addictive! What's wrong with that? Myself, an experienced photographer, I dropped the rig because my spontaneously fidgeting fingers wanted to squeeze the rubber of the clip. The handle stayed in my hand, whereas the phone housed in the cage dropped on the pavement! I could not believe what happened...2. Dimensional inconsistency— the "cold shoe" housing the trigger button versus the ones on the frame are executed to different dimensions. If you remove the rubber button and you want to put it on the cage (leaving the handles at home), it won't fit.3. Hardly any reference on how to replace the battery. No idea given on expected life of the battery. Requires a tiny JIS (i.e., Philips) screwdriver number 000 or 0000, which is not included, and which is not in everybody's toolbox. You need a very high power magnifier (a jeweler’s scope). Battery is being spring-loaded, it pops out and is not easy to put back. This is not field serviceable, at all...4. The manual printed on a thin strip of paper requires a microscope to read. It is missing whole chapters covering many aspects of the rig. The trigger button with its battery (the battery model is mentioned though!) is hardly described, no technique to replace the battery is provided. The manual doesn't even mention removal of the plastic tab you have to put an effort in to remove, to energize the battery when initiating the rig.5. The team who wrote and designed the manual is largely disconnected from the team of brilliant engineers who've done all the mechanical work on the cage.

I bought the rig to use for night time photography and it would accept an iPhone 16 Pro. The rig did poorly with my Apple mag safe case but works fine with the case enclosed with the rig. I can now use the phone on a tripod both in portrait and landscape mode because there are sufficient holes to screw in a tripod plate though they can interfere with buttons on the phone. My main complaint is inability to add filters to the phone. I have ordered the newer Brandon Li model which is more expensive but does have better incorporation of filters.

Tried a few different cases and this was the one that stuck for me! The magnet used for the MagSafe is much stronger than most other cases, I also really love being able to pop my phone in and out of the cage while it’s mounted. Hopefully these cages will stay compatible with future iPhones and just different cases.

The newly added quick camera button on the iPhone 15 pro cannot be used with this cage. It covers the button, so if you’re looking to open your camera quickly, you can’t. So disappointing.

Estoy encantado con la calidad de esto es otro nivel y la manera como protege mi equipo y calidad es increÃble, es pesado , resiste el uso, se me ha caÃdo el teléfono varias veces y no le ha pasado nada , lo puedes configurar de diferentes maneras… estoy ahora por comprar los filtros ND, small rig siempre dando lo mejor en calidad y funcionalidad .
