This product checks all the boxes. I use it for my fx30 and a6600 and the battery life while using this lasted 9 hours. It's great to charge other batteries as well.Functionality is simple and easy to learn and use

Of all of my filmmaking gear this is my favorite thing. I never leave the house without it. If I’m not using it to power my smaller cinema rig. It’s perfect for a portable power bank.

Whether it's DTAP or USB C connections your gear requires, this has what you need. It charges quickly via USB C (making the need for a slow V Mount charger a thing of the past). The LED panel gives you a whole lot of information, most importantly how much power you have left. From my iPhone to camcorders and more serious cameras, this battery has what it takes to charge all and keep rolling.

UPDATE - 2024.06.10Bottom line - if you have a battery that won’t work with an Atomos device via the 12V barrel port, contact SmallRig.After I posted my review, Smallrig reached out to me and wanted to help. They were able to replace my original batteries with ones that worked with the Ninja V Plus from the 12V port. They also replaced my mini v mounts so that they properly locked the battery in. The latch doesn’t pop out fully like on some other v mount accessories but I can confirm that I wasn’t able to apply any amount of force to separate the batteries from the plate without damaging your rig. In both cases, I had purchased products from early manufacturing runs and it seems they sorted these issues out after a bit. These are still my favorite v mount battery packs as they are so versatile and really offer insane value because they don’t require a traditional battery plate or v mount charger.Original Review - Seemed like a big improvement over the original - Aluminum body, better placement of ports, color screen with more information, lower/no self discharge. Unfortunately there are two things that keep it from being great. The first is that when used with the SmallRig V-Mount Battery Plate (4064B, the small all in one that is practically perfect for Sony FX3/FX30), the battery isn't completely locked in - if the battery is pushed from the bottom or pulled from the top, the battery will come out of the plate (tested on two different units). Second, please see the included notice from their website. The Atomos Ninja monitors are probably one of the most common 12V devices out there, so it is disappointing to see that they aren't compatible w/ the 12V barrel port. My guess is that the power control module can't handle the inrush current on startup. Otherwise a fine product.

Most important thing about it is that you can have a smart power bank plugged into it via USB C while it is in use effectively making it indefinitely long lasting. Or, a charger of sufficient power from the wall to USB C.Only slight downside is that like all V mount, you really have to make sure it is in properly or it pops out. A failure of V mount design over all and not just this unit.Otherwise it lives up to its promises and change.

Better than cameTV imo. Easier charging options with USB C

I received this yesterday after I noticed that it went in sale. It’s usually $385 CAD but not it’s $275. What’s more weird is that the model below it cost more currently. The battery feels premium, materials are top notch. Metal and rubber with a glass or plastic like display. The battery calculates run time when you plug in a device giving you an estimate for how long it might last, plus it shows you the voltage and TDP. In the photo above I have my iPhone 15 Pro Max plugged in via USB-C.

I am trying to use the VB99 Pro with the SmallRig RC 30B fresnel light and the official SmallRig RC 30B USB-C to DC cable and it works with some complications. When I connect the VB99 Pro directly to the RC 30B light with the USB-C to DC cable, everything works great. However, I like to lower my v-mount batteries to the bottom end of light stands so that the center of gravity is lower. So I bought a USB-C extension cable from UGREEN which supports up to 20V/5A.When I try to use the UGREEN extension cable with the setup above, the light does not turn on. The battery turns on but only displays the percentage left. It does not show any of the information such as voltage or anything. It just stays idle.I know people will say, don't use the extension cable or that the UGREEN cable can't support this setup. However, I also own the older SmallRig VB50 V-mount battery and when trying the same setup WITH the UGREEN extension cable works! And it's stable and works very well. Therefore, there must be something preventing the VB99 Pro from performing as there is no issue with any of the other components. The older SmallRig VB50 has no issues with the same setup.
