Works great. Diagnosed the leak within minutes. Why buy a more expensive one. Just add baby oil and bam, leak found, problem solved, engine codes gone! Outstanding value!

Simple to use, very effective for finding leaks in Emission Control System. Produces smoke almost immediately after switched on. Great Product for the price! Will Recommend!

this inexpensive smoke machine works great for trouble shooting intake and exhaust leaks. However, the unit i received has the Smoke/Air switch installed backwards, so i spent a good while wondering why it wouldnt make smoke. Eventually i flipped the switch and it promptly started creating good thick smoke. I popped the switch out and turned it around so i wont continue to confuse myself in the future

Works great! I used this to find exhaust leaks in my 2000 Tundra. Easily found that both of my aftermarket headers were leaking. I had thought it was only one side. Also have a 2012 xterra with rough idle and cylinder lean codes. I hooked this up to the brake booster vacuum line and found several leaks in the intake hoses. Fixed those and it's running great now. I used mineral oil because I had some, worked great but smells horrible. Fyi, dont leave this inside your vehicle after using. I left it in my truck overnight and the smell is overwhelming. Aired the truck out for a week and I still smell it. 😅 OOPS, won't do that again.

I wish it came with oil and had the ability to run on 120v. Those are my only complaints. I was a little concerned that it did not need an external air supply, however the built in air pump does make a decent amount of pressure, and the unit does make a decent amount of smoke. I used baby oil, worked perfect.When using not near the main car battery, it does run well on a small (ytx4l) motorcycle battery.

This pump is likely one of the best in this price range, because it does produce smoke with:-good flow-good pressure-good densityBad pumps will produce smoke that lacks in one or more of these parameters. If you happen to buy a pump that lacks in density specifically, you won' even see it.This pump, as someone have already mentioned is mislabeled on the switch:The switch itself is correct ( I for smoke, and O for just air), but the letteringon the pump body states these things wrong, the air where is smoke, and the smoke where is the air only.The specs do not list the current consumed (search tags: current AMPS AMP A) . So, I have measured and here it is:At 12 VDC dual pump only (AIR Mode) - 0.6 AAt 12 VDC dual pump with heater (Smoke Mode) - 7 ASo, if you want to, for instance, charge it with BiteFighter Clean Burning oil and smoke your patio using your Lab power supply 12V 5A, then nope, it won't work, the pumps will make weird noise and there will barely be a flow of weak smoke. Obviously even worse with some socket hog. You are going to need a good power supply to make that happen.As for the automotive testing, it works great. The only thing I would want (and I am going to add to it myself) is a low pressure regulator and flow meter.It has one shortcoming. The way the burner is designed is there is no way to seal it for storage.Thus, not only you won't be able to store it sideways, but the entire room will be smelling like that mineral oil smoke until it dries out. It would be nice if it wasn't so. I am thinking to fix this by installing ball valves on every line that is left open.If the manufacturer fixes these issue some day, they should send me a free one for testing :)

I made a smoke machine based upon some Youtube videos. It worked - but barely. So I broke down and bought this unit.For the price, I am impressed with this tool. It's easy to assemble and it puts out a good quantity of smoke under some pressure. Within a few minutes of hooking it up to the air intake on my Toyota Matrix, I located three vacuum leaks. This would explain why my fuel trims were running 10 to 15% rich. I would definitely recommend it.And yes you need to supply your own oil. But simply use baby oil. It works fine and even the operating manual lists baby oil as being suitable.
