Flux helps your work
Flux rosin has the characteristics of good wetting, low melting point, less smoke, less residue, etc.

I have other soldering equipment but I bought this kit just to keep in my portable tool kit. It comes with everything needed to do simple repairs and work and is very compact so takes little room in the tool kit.

This is my first soldering iron ever so I can't compare it to other irons but it was amazing for the price. I've had absolutely no experience before and it was pretty hard at first but then I realized I was just over thinking it and it was very easy. I've used it over 5 times now and it's working well. For $10 I'm very pleased. You get alot of extras in the box. One thing to mention is the fine tip for the iron looses it's shape from the heat but the 2 others have been holding there shape very well. Where you hold the iron does get a bit hot but not to hot where you can't hold it. It heats up very fast, but I'm not a fan of the temperature wheel. It's very small but its not a big deal as you adjust it once and don't pay attention to it much after that.. For $10 I'd definitely buy it again.

Super easy, but I'm glad I watched a few youtube videos before I got started. My solar bulb had a red wire come off its solder, so I paid $10 for this kit so I could fix it, and any that break in the future. I don't have the clamps, so I had to use tape to try and keep the end I was soldering, in the place where I needed it to be, because one hand was holding the solder gun, and the other hand had the metal solder coil it in. Wasn't sure how to use the resin, so I didn't use it. I did begin and end by putting a little of the metal solder stuff on the tip of the gun, that much I learned from the videos. Wasn't sure what temp to use. Also, use a mask, as when the solder gun touches the solder coil, a lot of dark smoke comes up. Overall, easy and fun and worked great!

For the price, understandably there are some QC issues. I probably could have returned the kit but for so little money, I just ordered a new iron to use with the existing pieces. This comes with a bit of everything you might need for small-scale, hobby soldering. You've got some solder, heat shrink tubing, a desoldering pump, etc. I imagine they may quality test them in the factory by turning them on for just a moment and letting them heat up, which mine did satisfactorily. Unfortunately, after warming up and desolding one tab of a battery in a GBC cartridge, the LED indicating the power was on suddenly shut off, and so did the iron, never to return.I've kept the rest of the kit as a good starter set, nothing in there is premium or super high quality but it'll get you started and for that the price is fantastic. I'll probably continue using several pieces of this for months or years as I build out my gear, since I am just a hobbyist.And hopefully if you're like 99% of the other reviewers, your soldering iron will work.

This is a great little product if you needs to do small work on something. Unfortunately I couldn't fix what I needed to, it wasn't this products fault. If anything I was so happy that this kit came with everything that I needed and no matter what I'll now have a soldering kit in the event that all need one. I would say that you just need to get yourself a different bag to contain all of the products as it only comes with a small box which won't last forever.
