If you are going to do much soldering, especially electronics, this is good to have. The metal sponge cleans the iron tip MUCH better than a wet sponge. Do yourself a favor and spend the few dollars to make soldering life a lot easier.The only reason I did not give this five stars was the size of the metal sponge. I had to place a small spacer in the bottom of the container to keep the sponge close to the top.

A friend introduced me to this, and I’m glad I tried it. Much quicker to clean while working, than the old wet sponge technique

Nicely stamped but lightweight metal. Needs several heavy washers inside to properly support copper ball and aid in stopping sliding of unit when in use. I also added a rubber scrap with double faced tape to the bottom so it would not slide easily. The additional copper bills are nice to have and they do work well at cleaning the soldering tip.

These definitely are not brass. The price is very good now to see if they clean the way they are supposed to, but definitely not brass
