The sooteater worked very well and if you follow directions you will not have any problems. If you have the plastic over the front of your stove you shouldn’t get any ash out on the floor. I found it better to not use a vacuum cleaner running when cleaning as the hose let more soot out and cleaning up the hose that was inside the stove was a chore. I needed 27’ to get to cap on top of the chimney and it cleaned like a champ. It costs me $80 to have a chimney sweep do it, so it payed for itself in one use. Well built and engineered product.Mike from Idaho

I needed to clean out my stainless steel chimney of my wood stove fireplace insert and decided to give this product a try. It worked great from inside the house so I didn't have to climb on the roof. However, I did have to bend the rod quit a bit to get them up the chimney but it worked and clean out quit a bit of soot. As someone else commented I was able to adjust the nylon heads and cut them in 1/2 for what I needed so I have a back-up set but it looks like the common nylon material for the gas weed wackers. I did buy the three extension rods but I didn't need them the 18 feet they give you was enough but now I have a three extension rods as backup in case one breaks. So I would recommend this product.

This is amazing. Although I have a screen guard over the top of my chimney to prevent birds from nesting in the flue, and I use creosote logs a few times each season, I was getting smoke kicked back into my home. I decided to try this product to see if it would clear whatever was blocking the smoke from exiting the top of my chimney. I have a very tall flue, so I did have to buy and use 3 more rods, but it worked amazingly well. It was easy to assemble and attach to my drill. I have already recommended this to everyone I know.

These are great and worthy of 5 stars but the "buttons" that have to be depressed are hard to depress if you have compromised hands. Big money saver though!!! Would buy again!

I have used the gardus chimney cleaning system twice now w/ great results. I had purchased a traditional chimney sweep and attempted to climb my three story roof when I began to slide down the roof iI decided that there must be a better way. I decided to give the gardus cleaning system a try and can't be happier. I have a jotul Insert w/ a 90 degree bend where the stove connects to the liner and due to the flexibility of the rods I didn't have any trouble. I use a 14.5 volt drill which works fine but I will probably burn it up soon if I don't upgrade to an 18 volt drill. I also purchased the rod extension kit for my chimney and they also work just fine.

Bend them too much they break work well from bottom to top not so well top to bottom specially if the bend is too much.

Unless you are lucky and get the white rods instead of the black plastic version buy several extra because they break very easily. After 1 cleaning up and down the chimney with a slight bend needed to beginning I have had three snap so far. Up to this point it has not been a disaster because I was able to reach up and pull the remaining pieces down but if it broke midpoint in the chimney who knows. Just beware, it is a handy idea and with decent materials used on the rods instead of whatever garbage they are using the system would be good. Due to my location and using pine as firewood I like to keep the chimney clean but this is not the system if you expect it to last more than 1 use.

Fantastic! Robust! This was a pleasure to use and it paid for itself the first time out of the box. The local fireplace company charged $150 plus tax. This purchase was truly a no brainer. Would recommend.

The 2 three foot extensions are fine, connections work, everything as expected, no problem.

These fit the original sooteater just as they should. I'm impressed with the whole thing really.

I purchased the Gardus SootEater to clean our chimney. I needed a little more length. Th2-pack rod pack did the trick, and I was able to clear out a bird nest that had obstructed my chimney. The SootEater is well worth the money.
