Cover the glass jar with the feeding day elastic. Depending on your feeding time, and move the band sideways to indicate the feeding day and time, move the band up or down to mark the starting feeding level.
The breathable cover is used for fermentation at room temperature. The stainless steel lid is used for placement in the refrigerator for storage.

Jar thermometer doesn't stick to jar. While stirring in day 3 flour and water on second batch, the jar shattered. A canning jar would be a much better and much cheaper choice.

I was loving this set until one day I’m washing the jar and I noticed a crack in the glass. It hasn’t even been four weeks and I already have to toss the jar. I would keep that in mind if looking to purchase

The one thing I would change is for the sides to be straight all the way up, like a wide mouth pint jar. There is a lip under the threaded neck that makes it hard to get starter out from under there.The jar is a nice weight, and two types of coverings are handy. The fabric band is cute for those who want to see how much their starter has grown. The silicone scraper is awesome, and I'd prefer two of those over the set of measuring cups. But the cups are useful.I would recommend this for sure.

Had this product for a week, loved it so much I bought a second one. The second one came with a dented lid which I didn’t think would change the starter inside but it did . It changed my starter and after noticing, I switched back to the original container I bought and put water in this one only to find out it leaks and the lid really did affect the contents inside . I expected better for the cost,
