I have wanted to use a sous vide cooker for the longest time and I was recently able to get this particular unit. Right out of the box I was impressed with the quality of the build and this unit is solid! Setup was a breeze using the smartlife app. I thankfully already had that app for many of my other smart devices. Once I plugged the cooker in, the app immediately recognized it and added it to my device list. There is manual control touch buttons on the unit and you can control it with the app.In the app, there are recipe styles so you can select what you are cooking and it will adjust the cooker to your desired item to be cooked.I put in a short rib steak that I had preseasoned and vacuum packed in a a bag. The temp was brought up quickly and it held it the temp the entire 2 hours I was cooking my steak. You can't adjust the temp or time on the device while the unit is cooking but you can with the app on the fly. I got alerts when my steak was done cooking and did my quick sear. The steak came out flawless and perfectly evenly cooked throughout.I will now not be able to cook a steak in any other way. I would highly highly recommend this to anyone interested in exploring sous vide cooking.

This is the first sous vide cooker I've ever used. I've read about them, and have wanted one for awhile. This sous vide cooker by Outohomo attaches easily to a large pot and does not wiggle around. Setting the sous vide up with the app (through the Smart Life app) was such a breeze! Thanks to the app, I was able to monitor the cooking from my phone, and get alerts on my apple watch as soon as my timer was up. Which is great because my kitchen is on the opposite end of the house.Personally, I find setting and using the sous vide through the app much more simpler than navigating the buttons on the unit. When using to cook meat, I found that all of our meats were cooked evenly through. And they were are cooked to a point that they were tender. If I could deduct half a star, it would be for:If you're new to sous vide cooking (like I am), I found the instruction booklet lacking in the basics of cooking with a sous vide. I ended up reading a Sous Vide Steak Guide on anovaculinary.com to understand the basics of how to get going with sous vide cooking. That, and I'd tell you to heavily season your meats or marinade beforehand. I found that when using the same amount of spices and herbs, my meats are more bland in the sous vide cooking method. So I'd say to overseason and you'll be golden if you like a more flavorful, robust meat.

I did poached eggs in the shell for my first recipe, and while they didn't quite turn out the way I liked, I think it was more the fault of the recipe and the machine did what it's supposed to do. I ran the sous vide circulator in a pot of just water to check the temperature. As it came up to temperature, I occasionally checked with a thermometer and it seemed to run a bit hotter than the sous vide and after it reached the target temperature, my thermometer was about a degree hotter. I'm not sure a degree makes a lot of difference. Set up and using the app was easy. The app's sole function, with regards to this sous vide, seems to be to turn the on-board controls on and off. The time and temperature settings are adjusted onboard. One thing I didn't like is that when the circulator is plugged in on the opposite side of me, as is usual with most appliances, the control board is upside down. (pictured) I put the machine on the side to better read it and adjust the settings.
