This has a long post and it went into the ground nicely, but I felt that would never quite get you the maximum stability you need. You can dig out a bit of dirt and drop some concrete in the whole and that might work better, but still not 100% for me. So, what I did was bolt this to the side of the step i attached it to. Had to drill holes in the concrete and in the post, but that process locked things right up.Having said all that about install, this was way thicker and stronger than I expected. It has a very nice finish. Overall, I was impressed and would order this again if needed.

We got these, one for our front steps & one for our back steps simply because our home owners insurance said we needed hand rails. These are great for what we need them. We used quick cement to install. The only suggestion would be that the post could be a little bit longer. By the time you put them in the ground the amount of inches required, the actual hand rail seems too low. But it works for what we need & it was easy to install. No drills or fancy equipment needed. Heavy & sturdy.

The seller should provide an option (choice) to choose hardware for installing the rail on a wooded base when ordering. The hardware for concrete the is provided was of no use to me. I had to purchase lag screws and washers for my installation.

We were impressed with the sturdiness of the handle piece but in less than a week the weld broke and handle fell off and husband took a bad fall off the landing hurting his leg, back and hip. The weld was only tacked in two spots.
