Absolutely for the price it's well worth it. It's a little small in size at about 1 1/2 inches. (SEE PICS) However. the high pitch sound is loud comparable to the squeal of any smoke alarm. That's pretty loud. I agree with one of the reviewers saying that you can't give it a light blow if you want a softer sound. It won't work. You either blow hard for a high shrill pitch or that's it. Definitely a downside for some but still considering the price not a biggie. The lanyard included is to say the least adequate. It resembles a bootstring and its easily attached. It's approximately 17 inches in length. (SEE PIC) I really can't say much about the durability of the whistle because I just got it but it seems to be made of durable hard plastic. It's a name brand product, so it should at least meet or exceed most of it's competitors out there in the marketplace. It's made in Taiwan (SEE PIC) Personally I say go for it. After all, for only around 2.00, what do you got to lose?

I'm not sure what overcame my wife's common sense when she ordered this for our 8 year old. It's durable and works great?Durable enough to survive an 8 year old boy. That's saying something.So durable, in fact, that it has resisted my "accidental" attempts to destroy it at every turn. Instead, I'm forced to hide it until he digs it up again and proceeds to make my Tinnitus worse than it already is. I feel like I'm having flashbacks of WW1 and that I need to sally forth into the field every time he challenges himself to see how long a single whistle blow can possibly last.

Bought this inexpensive whistle to use at recess and PE classes when I substitute teach in elementary schools. It's loud but not overpowering and come on you can't beat the Spalding name or price! It's a no brainer purchase!

Works fine but plug your ears when you blow it. It's very loud but effective.

I use this for officiating basketball. This whistle withstands the running up and down the court without issues. Great price for a great tool. Bought multiple for back ups. Happy with the product.

I purchased the whistle for my sister who subs often in gym class. Someone also told me women carry them for safety purposes!When my 9 year old granddaughter saw the whistle she wanted one, so I ordered her one for Christmas! Her Dad makes he play with it outside!The whistle comes with a lanyard and is very economical.

As an elementary school teacher- this is perfect for recess. Very loud, but not to the point of hurting ears. Also very durable, I've had it on my badge reel all year and it isn't even scratched.
