The telerad base is a good replacement for the standard ones that do not transfer well from a telescope body. It is itentical to the manufacturer's model. It probably is the same.

I had to take my original base and cut it in half, and mount each half backwards on top of my telescope to maintain balance. The scope rings were in the way of the center area. I purchased a spare mount which I probably don't need, but I love the Telrad aiming and ease of assembly.

I bought this to enable swapping of my telrad between scopes. I didn't have any issues mounting it to the second scope and my telrad fit without problems.
