EDIT #2: This mat and the Spider Farmer customer service team is definitely 5 stars worthy. I received my new thermostat from Spider Farmer. It is working like a charm. I wish I started using a heating mat long before now. With this heat mat & thermostat, I can control to the 10th of a degree. Before I used the heat mat, I sowed 8 tomato seeds, 4 germinated. I sowed 6 bell pepper seeds, zero germinated. While using the mat, I sowed 24 tomato seeds with hopes of getting at least 10 to germinate. To my surprise, all 24 germinated and now I’m trying to find homes for these plants. I also sowed six bell pepper seeds, 4 germinated. This year I also sowed green beans, cucumbers and squash seeds…all with a 100% germination rate. This mat is a game changer. I also give kudos to their customer service team. EDIT: I changed my stars from 2 stars to 4 stars because of Spider Farmer’s customer service. Spider Farmer contacted me after reading my issues. Without hassle, and without me asking, I was immediately sent a new thermostat (it will arrive on Wednesday). I must say that Spider Farmer’s customer service is amazing. I will update this post when I receive the item and put the components together. 😊I just opened my heat mat. The mat & thermostat both work when plugged into the wall. The mat DOES NOT work when it is plugged into the thermostat. Unfortunately, I am outside of my return window. I bought it as my 2022 Christmas present and just opened it now, in March 2023. I gave a 2 stars rating because the mat & thermostat appear to be nice. The mat heats up really hot when it does not have the thermostat to control it, so I cannot use it.

My original purpose for buying this was for starting my seeds indoors early this year, which I was able to do successfully and well with this heating mat. Peppers, eggplant, herbs, cucamelons, beans, and squash all germinated perfectly and quickly thanks to this mat.But more than that, I’m extremely glad I had this around later this summer because I was able to use it to save my quail chicks after their heat lamp unexpectedly broke during their first night after hatching. I hate to think about what probably would have happened if I didn’t have this readily available. Thanks to this they were able to stay sufficiently warm until my replacement brooder plate arrived. I also ended up using it below my incubator to help it keep a steady temperature within.I’m really glad I have it. It has been of greater value than I expected when I bought it. Great product!

So I just got this and it came at perfect timing because I have an insanely great mom that i want to clone so i did that and im new to growing cannabis so the fact that i succesfully rooted two for two clones without any rooting hormone gels or anything (just put the clone in a cup of water and one in a rockwell cube for a few days). I only wanted one clone but i took two cuttings just in case one doesnt root because im new i know i could make a mistake but luckily both rooted and now i have an extra clone that i can gift to my friend or use to make seeds/experiment!! Im so excited! Seriously shoutout spider farmer! they always hit on their products no misses! everything ive gotten from them so far has been amazing! ill make sure to upgrade my sf1000 to an sf4000 next because spider farmer has been too consistently amazing with all their products. If you need a seedling mat or heat mat so that your seedlings or cuttings can grow better then this is the product for you! your plants will love the warmth it provides and the remote control that comes with it is super helpful too, you can make sure the mat isn't too hot or too cold so you can easily find the goldilocks temperature with the remote. Overall it's easy to use so i give it a 10/10Oh also forgot to mention but the kit comes with a temperature sensor or something like that and you just keep it near your seedling or clone near the mat to see what temp your cutting/seedling is at so you know whether or not you need to increase or decrease the temp.

My hair was turning gray waiting for some Malabar spinach to sprout. I almost gave up and then I took a chance and ordered this mat after good experiences with a spider farmer grow light . Seed success!!! Based on the Malabar results, I was tempted to use this on all my seeds. But I read that you should not use it on cold weather crops like regular spinach and kale FYI. You should use it only on warm weather crops - tomatoes, cucumbers, okra - things that grow in full sun and thrive in summer. (Malabar spinach is a tropical variety). Paired with a little research, I feel like this will be a game changer for my seed sprouting! FYI, it did come with a separate thermostat, but I’m not sure what to do with that or how to even connect it to the mat. More research in my future it seems!

Have used other brands before but these are top notch. Brought my citrus trees inside and wrapped the mats around them and they are doing great and even blooming 3 weeks later. Highly suggest them.

Easy to use, and adjust temp. I use this to make Kefir and it has performed as expected. I place a small cooler over the top and It allowed the heat to disperse evenly and I could cut my temp down by 4 degrees. Well worth it, very consistent results.

I liked that this mat had a digital thermometer. It may take a few presses to get the temperature to adjust, but it’s not bad. It works well to keep kefir or kombucha at the right temperature. The reason I went with a mat instead of a wrap is because one mat can hold multiple jars.

Update: had issue with uneven heat distribution. Sprider Farmer saw my comment and sent replacement mat and grow light (gift). ThanksBought beginning 2024. It works, I liked it initially for the convenience of having one mat but it has uneven heat spots. Gets super hot near the area where cable attaches to the mat. What does that mean? Extraaaaaa work: I have to rotate trays frequently, continuously monitor and water seedlings frequently.I was going to buy another but price jumped from 75$ to 99$. Mehhhh!
