I’ve only ever used the metal mesh splatter guards because that’s the only option I knew of. I always seriously disliked them; they’d get full of grease, were horrible to try to clean, and stained easily.These, in comparison, are awesome. They cover more surface area of the skillet or pan, the handle stays cool, they’re of substantial quality, they clean and wash easily, and they have a folding handle to make for easier storage. I liked it enough that I bought a second one

This works great. Just be careful not to get it close to open flame.Also, do NOT put this in the oven. Not seeing any temperature restrictions, I made the mistake of doing that with my first one and it completely melted. On the positive side the company gave me a new one without any hassle.

Compared to the screen mesh ones we have always used, this is a nice change. Yes, you can't the food at all, but ease of cleaning (dishwasher) and storage, both made possible by the folding handle, is worth the tradeoff.

I bought this to replace my old screen that was falling apart. I really like how easy this one is to clean and it’s nice to be able to adjust the handle for better storage. This is a way better option than my previous metal screen that was a pain to wash and feel like it was actually clean.

My RamblingsWe truly enjoy the cooking, but not the eye burning, skin melting grease pops that constantly harass us while making our world famous fried chicken, hush puppies, and basically anything that can be dipped in hot grease to cook. So let's take a closer look at this problem solving Silicone guard.To the Point or TL;DRMade of Silicone, Max temp 450 degrees, Tested on 12†Skillet, Afraid to put in oven, Allowed some grease to pop through, Excellent folding handle, Dishwasher safe (tested), Used on Gas Stove (see caveat below), Doesn't have a moisture collection problem.The Good StuffWe like (not love) this grease guard. It's lightweight with a great foldable handle for when its time to put into the dishwasher or store in the cabinet. It's dishwasher safe (so is my metal one) and is easy to hand clean (easier than my metal one). Also, it doesn't collect a lot of moisture under it, which means when you lift it, it doesn't drop all that into the grease and cause a huge popping issue.Gas Stove CaveatUsing a gas stove top? We tested it on our gas stove, but we were sure not to allow the flames to lap up the sides of the pan for fear it would melt. We also used a 12†pan, meaning we didn't have a huge overlap with the silicone guard. So use with caution on open flame stoves, or not, you know, whatever.The Bad StuffIt has the potential to melt and it's not metal. Silicone just isn't metal, so I need to be careful where and how I use this. Can't use on a smaller pan for fear of the heat & flame radiating around it and melting it and can't use it in the oven. Won't try and yes I'm scared. Also, so grease did manage to pop through once or twice and get me.Who May Use/Like ItThose with electric stovetops that want a lightweight, dishwasher safe alternative to metal guard.Me Final ThoughtsMetal is just tried and true, and although I like this new fangled guard, it just won't replace my metal one.That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Very very nice. Fits nicely over the cookware and does its job of shielding the splatter. Very easy to clean and dry and fold up to put away.
