This kit came with the provided shoulder bolts already pre-pressed into the heavy duty shackles, a very important point after reading the reviews and installation experiences of dozens of these shackle replacement kits by other purchasers. Without this important point, the end user is tasked with having to properly seat the twist-knurled shoulder bolts into the shackles, which can result in snapping off the threaded portion of the bolt if done improperly. Although I have a small hydraulic press in my home shop, and had planned to use it to seat the bolts into the shackles pre-installation, this kit with its pre-pressed-in bolts made that step completely unnecessary. Excellent execution for this kit.It was hard to determine the exact type of lock nuts are provided in the kit based on in the low resolution photos provided in the product page. The lock nuts in this kit are not cheap crushed or peened lock nuts, that can ruin the bolts' threads, making them unusable. Instead, they are what is called Metal Insert Self Locking Nuts, or Fuji Lock nuts. They look superficially like Nylok-brand nuts, but instead of having a nylon insert to bind against the threads of the bolt, they have an all-metal spring steel insert that performs the binding action. Like Nylok nuts, these do not damage the bolt or take damage themselves during installation or removal, so can be removed and reinstalled as needed for maintenance. They are also not subject to the potential melting of the binding insert if exposed to high operational heat, as Nylok nuts can. Please note that the bolts and nuts in the kit that I received are metric threaded 12x1.75. I find that this is not a problem. The M12-1.75 threading is larger in diameter, potentially providing a stronger component, as an additional benefit. The shoulders of the bolts, which are in contact with the bushings, are correct diameter for the task. So, if TL;DR, this kit appears to be the best available heavy duty shackle kit.

Listen, if you know how to swap an engine or a transmission, this will be cake with your array of tools and experience but... if youre kind of change my oil only type of guy, brace yourself. This was not cake walk by any stretch of the imagination. Each bolt has a zerk fitting in front, meaning that you can not smack the bolt dead center, you will need to use a small 10-14mm socket in order to hover over the fitting as you are smacking it in there, we are talking about 30-40 very hard hits PER BOLT with a 2LB hammer. Anything less will not do. These are corse not fine ridged bolts at the end and they will not fly in there, trust me.What you will need6ton or better bottle jackRegular car jackImpact gun preferablySocket set and open box wrench set1/2 long extension barSmall 1/2 extension bar to mount to long bar to be used as a sacrificial smacking surface, it will be toast2-4lb sludge hammerGreaseScrew driver flatOnce you take out the old bolt and the old plastic insert, grease up the hole with grease via tooth brush, use old bolt over brass sleeve to pound in gently and straight, if you go in at angle sleeve will crumble. Trust me.You'll also need a zerk grease gun at the end to grease up the fittings, probably a good idea.Good complete kit, should have a pounding bar with hollow end included though and at least one extra brass sleeve. Otherwise very good and much stronger then stock one that don't last at all.

Fit great on my 3500lb (5x4.5 lug pattern) Al-Ko axles. Sure wish the manufacturer would’ve included all the grease zerks though. Amazon shipped this overnight which got me back to work with my trailer the next day and really got me out of a bind. Would be 5 stars if all parts were included. The actual shackles are super beefy compared to the cheap stock parts hopefully they work as good as they look.

They are definitely heavy duty, but there were a few issues.#1, did not include locking nuts as listed. it came with serrated flange nuts, which have some locking effect when tightened against something. problem is that in this design the 1/2" nut tightens against the end of 9/16 shaft which is smaller than the ID of the serrations. I replaced them with locking deformed thread flange nuts.#2 The bolts for the fixed end of the spring have about 3/8" of spline on them. The spline is great for keeping the bolt form rotating in the hole but trailer spring hangars are only made out of about 3/16 thick material so you end up with the spline engaging the spring bushing, which makes the spring bushing turn in the spring instead of turning around the bolt. I put them in my lathe and removed some of the spline.#3 the shackles are about 1/8" wider than they need to be. It would probably be fine but it is pretty sloppy so I added some plastic washers on either side of the spring and and shackle hangar to take up the slop

We have a 40 foot toyhauler with tandem 7K axles. We use it hard! We've broken shackle mounts, leafs, the equalizer snapped in half....you get the idea. Just rough terrain and roads these days. The stock side plates on RVs are weak, and given the twisting forces of multi-axle in turns, it creates a lot of pressure on those plastic bushings. At 15,000 miles, our stock plastic bushings were worn through. These are an easy to install and valuable upgrade. Yes, I'll need to grease them once and a while, but fair trade for the added strength. When installing, recommend placing the zerks all to the same side (typically inside) so you can get to them easily.

This is an incredibly well built and manufactured product. Save yourself some money and buy this product instead of the Lippert brand that is twice as expensive.

The bushings measure 0.674 inches. Fit very loose in the springs. They should be .6875
