This is a good compass for students and artists. I use this for drafting but would serve equally as well for art and maths. THe construction is all metal except for the blue bits which are a hard and durable plastic. They use a strong plastic screw to hold your pencil in. While it doesn't move up and down, it does move left and right a bit if you wiggle it on purpose, however it should not be a problem if you;re just drawing cricles, in that case it stays stationary for the most part. It comes with a plastic carying case that has a 5 inch ruler attached. The metal tip is not super sharp for safety reasons. I've had no problems with it. I am satisfied with this purchase.

This works great, feels like good quality materials, and I like the ruler on the box. I thought it might be kind of pointless, then I started using it and was glad to have a ruler right there next to me. But the compass works great and I really like it! Staedtler is a great brand.

I have use Staedler products since I was in high school more than 40 years ago. I bought this for my son and found the quality is not what Staedtler products used to be anymore. But it gets the job done and they are a little bit better than other unknown brands these days.

Cheap is the only word I can use here. It's like a toy... I thought Staedler is a good and reputable company but it looks like they are running for volume and money, no quality at all. What's the point?Never will recommend this item to anyone.

Devolvà el producto, porque la punta donde apoya el compas para girar, no es muy afilada, de tal manera, que se pierde la precision en los cÃrculos. Estoy seguro que para un estudiante que empieza por primera vez a usar el compas, es una magnÃfica alternativa.

I am disappointed how could Staedtler manufacture such a 'cheap' item!! I realize it was an add on for $3.99You could buy a full geometry set from the dollar store for $3.00

Absolute garbage. I used it maybe once and still had problems making the pencil stay in place. It serves no purpose and you are better off paying a little more for something that can be used in the way intended. Throwing it away now.
