I had a few small lathe projects in mind for these rods when I ordered them but after a quick inspection upon arrival, I’m thinking they may be straight enough to use for leaner rails as well. So now my plans may change a bit. Anyway, these appear to be as advertised although I do feel $5 per foot to be a bit pricey for this diameter rod.

This set of four 304 stainless steel 12mm diameter 16-inch-long round stock have a nice surface finish, good end cuts, and are straight. I checked straightness by rolling the rods on a flat granite top and seeing if light would pass under them. This type of stainless steel, 304, is resistant to corrosion, oxidation, and is durable. The dimensions of the rods were the same as listed in the offering. These rods are a good size for use in projects. I plan to use two of these rods as shafts with Power Wheels gearboxes on an outdoor robot project.
