It's a bit heavier than what I had but you can adjust how thick you want the slices. It does a great job and I can find it easier in the silverware drawer

The slicer is a nice size, it is solid and the adjustment screw holds the roller in place.The only issue I have is the thickness of the provided wire. It is thick and can chew up your cheese if it is semi-hard or hard.It works great on softer cheeses.I replaced my wire with a slightly thinner one and it worked great.Nice product with only minor issue that is easy to fix.

Product is overall great, and I really wanted it to work, but it just wasn't meant to be. The wire is a bit to thick for the slicing that we are accustomed to with a cheese slicer. Wire would cut great until the last ½ inch of the slice, at which point it would just break a big chuck of cheese off with the slice. Returned, and still on the hunt for a better product.

I agree with some of the other reviews. It doesn’t cut all the way down to the cutting board. You kinda have to lift the cheese the rest of the way. The wire is not as tight as previous cheese slicers that we’ve had, kinda bends with the simplest cheddar. But it works, not the best slicer we’ve had. Not the worst.

UPDATE, These cheese cutters selling nowdays are completely dysfunctional compared to yrs ago. DON'T even fool with them, just cut the cheese with a small paring knife. I bought this model cheese cutter because we've had one of exact same design for 35yrs and still works with original wire. This new one came with a heavier gauge wire and wire wasn't pulled as tight as the old one. It didn't cut well and was sloppy so I took the heavy wire off and bought some 0.17in (0.4mm) dia stainless wire. The trick is getting the wire taught. It kept coming loose after a few times of use. It finally was not worth fooling with.

It makes it easy to cut through a block of cheese, because you're not getting resistance as the cheese would stick to a knife blade.It's easy to get uniform thickness, but difficult to get perfectly straight slices. I don't care about that.
