Creating an Template

Jig for stair treads
Align the edge of the pivoting end with the back wall of your casing. Rest the fixed end against the sidewall, and extend the adjustable end until the pivoting end touches the opposite wall.

Stair step scribe tool
Lift the stair gauge, transfer the shape onto material. Insert flip stops into grooves on pivoting ends, hook onto workpiece edge. Draw lines along pivoting ends for size and angles.

Stair tread guide
If you wish to use Flip Stops to align the template with your material, first remove both
flip stops from the pivoting end.

This is the perfect item if you have some stairs to build and you need a simple template for the treads. You don't need to worry about any guess work and you'll be able to finish the stairs quickly, and accurately without issue using this kit.Don't get me wrong I have seen better kits for more but at this price this one is a good choice and good enough for the odd home project.Until We Meet Again-Off the Grid Ken

The quality of the product is impressive when you first look at it, but in application it certainly falls short. The pieces that link the sections together are small and therefore don’t keep the back rigid, making it impossible to transfer onto the work piece without it wobbling and shifting. I mean it will do the job, but as a pro builder, it falls short to get nice super tight and accurate cuts..THE MANUFACTURER should have made you the inside link pieces longer, similar to the piece with the adjustment nob. I almost wish I could machine one myself, it then would be perfect.

I ordered this Stair Tread Template Tool - Upgrade Stair Tread Tool Jig, Stair Tread Measuring Tool Jig, Stair Tread Gauge Tool, Stair Tread & Shelf Gauge, Stair Template Tool (Blue-Gray) for my BIL who’s a professional contractor. He LOVES IT.Paraphrasing our conversation he was elated when he received this kit. It’s super strong and sturdy made of anodized aluminum. All the pieces fit in the included carrying case. After using it for a few weeks it has saved him time and money. He is able to quickly set up templates for countertops, stairs and other projects and then quickly and more accurately cut the materials resulting in less product waste and quicker turnaround. He says this is the best gift for work he’s ever received.Note: He’s a small contractor and makes all his own cuts. His hand tools and shop saws and other power equipment are used daily and he thinks this awesome tool will last a long time.We highly recommend!!!
