  • The flame sensor is a safety component of a furnace located on the interior of the burner assembly. It monitors and verifies whether a flame is burning inside the unit.

A flame sensor is one of the most important safety features of your furnace.
The sensor is a short length of thin metallic rod that creates a small current of electricity in order to confirm there is fire burning within the furnace. As the gas valve opens to begin the combustion process, the current is sent out from the sensor in order to detect the presence of heat from a flame.
The flame sensors ensure the burners are operating properly and have ignited the gas. If the sensor detects that the burner has failed, it will turn off the gas.
This burner flame sensor (part number 62-23543-01) is for furnaces.
Install Process:
1.Shut off the power to your furnace (or any other appliance). It is very important.
2.Remove the broken Sensor and replace it with our new sensor.
3.Turn the power back on, Check the Results.
Note:
Ensure the component you purchase is compatible with your unit.
Before you begin the flame sensor replacement, turn the gas and electricity off to the unit.

I noticed my furnace wasn’t engaging. I could smell gas from it trying to work, but it wasn’t lighting. I found this part that looks just like mine and it was super easy to use. Keep in mind the wire on this to the plug is a little short. Also, just a heads up it’s OK if it gets in the way of the flame. I was worried because I came back to it a few minutes later and it was red hot, but I called my HVAC and he said that it’s supposed to be in the way of the flame so that it can light it.

This did not work as a replacement for a 62-23543-01 flame sensor. Insufficient current output for a 62-23543-01 for the furnace to detect the flame.
Did not fit small.

It was a good 6 inches short for the Rheem. I had to reroute it the in correct way to connect it. It works, just not the way it's intended.
