Ordered this switch for the driver-side front door of a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab four-door. Works perfectly and is an inexpensive fix. The switch is sold under different part numbers but they're all the same as long as you match it correctly to the vehicle and door. Installation is relatively easy once you find how the switch mounts to the bottom of the door latch mechanism. After the door panel I removed the window run (one bolt) and the power door lock motor (slides and clips in and out) to give me more space to work with. The switch is supposed to twist and lock into place with a tab on the side of the switch but it gave me some trouble. I loosened the door latch via three screws (T27 Torx bit) around the latch on the outside of the door which gave the latch enough room to move and let the switch twist on its mount into place as its supposed to. Once in, I put everything back and it's good as new.For reference, the part number on my original door jamb switch was XF1T-10B997-AA. A couple of other part numbers that I've seen that are interchangeable are SW3688 and 1S3386. I've seen other switches that look very similar but are actually slightly different, particularly with the position of the locking tab (the bit of metal that sticks out on the side of the switch over the orange grommet), and are intended for use in other doors, so be careful to get the right one.

used in 2000 mustang to try to correct a parasitic draw. I also replaced the door mechanism. It's a pain to get to, so I replaced both. Time will tell if it was the problem. I believe this is the correct cross reference ford part # ........Ford: XF1Z-10B987-AA DRIVER SIDE!!!

Did not work for my Ford excursion. Worked opposite of how it was supposed to. When I closed my driver door, the door ajar light would come on. And then turn off when I opened my door. This switch is a “normally open†switch when the excursion used a “normally closedâ€the original in the truck being a tan(ish) color should have been my first sign that this one wasn’t going to work.

This switch does not work for 2003 f350 super duty. Door ajar light comes on when door closes and goes off when door opens. The polarity of the switch is opposite of what it needs to be.
