I used these to replace in an alternator with brushes that were worn out. They appear to be the same size/material as the ones that were inside with exception to the wear on the old ones. It requires desoldering the old ones in the housing and resoldering the new ones in and trimming the excess braided wire.Replacing the brushes in an alternator is not a full overhaul, although, it's commonly the first thing to wear out when they go bad. There are other kits out there that you can replace the regulator and brushes for an extra 20-30 bucks or for mine, a full remanufactured unit is between 100 and 200 bucks, so a bit of savings if you're willing to spend 20 mins taking it apart and fixing yourself. I think most of the time, that's all they do when you buy a whole unit and give them the core.

The wire tails come off the sides I needed them on the back didn’t use them they didn’t apply to my application

Worked great. You have to solder them in, so make sure you have a solder gun and some rosin core solder on hand.

Worked great, just be aware you need to solder them in using a heavy duty soldering iron. I used my harbor freight "industrial soldering iron".
