I picked up an old, used Star Popper a few years ago, but the quality of the popcorn it made was always a bit "meh". The kettle was black in the inside from many years of use without proper cleaning. It had even begun to rust in some places. So, I ordered this new kettle shell. Is it expensive? Yes. But WOW what a difference! With this new shell in place the unit makes movie theater quality popcorn now, and the family is over the moon! Even carmel corn comes out perfectly now.Replacement takes some time and a knowledge of basic electricity is helpful as you have to disassemble the entire kettle to replace the shell. Be prepared for a mess inside if yours is old like mine was. It had leaked a bit over the years and the interior was coated with a black, oily goo, but it does clean up with some elbow grease.One thing I did which I highly recommend, is replacing the kettle thermostat with a new one. Since i was doing a complete kettle refurb, I bought a new one not knowing that the old thermostat was broken/stuck. Before, the popper always smoked if I left the kettle on too long. Not anymore! Now, the temp is properly regulated and I have no more scorching or smoking!This shell and a new thermostat made my popper work like new again! I couldn't be happier.

This fit perfectly with my kettle. Just make sure to take pictures of how the parts assemble as the insert does not come with instructions. Cleaning the rest of the machine and hoping to make my first batch of popcorn this week.
