Thermally Protected Motor
Each automatic utility/laundry sink pump features a thermally protected motor. The thermal protector consists of a heat-sensing element built into the motor with an external control device that turns the under sink pump off when it detects excessive heat within the circuitry. After the motor temperature cools to a safe operating temperature, the utility sink pump will reset itself.
Performance
The Star STL001 Automatic Utility/Laundry Sink Pump mounts under a wet bar or tub to drain all waste water not containing solids where gravity drain lines are not available. It pumps 22 gallons per minute (GPM). The basement utility sink pump can function at a vertical lift up to 10 feet above the pumping level and pump at 3.5 GPM. As a compact pump, you can fit the unit under most sinks for a versatile pump solution.
Quick Setup
The Star STL001 Automatic Utility/Laundry Sink Pump is ideal for applications where gravity drain lines are unavailable, making it a perfect solution for many appliances in your home, such as washing machines and utility sinks.
To connect your automatic utility/laundry sink pump, ensure you have at least 5 inches from the sink bottom to the inlet and connect the pump to the sink tailpipe with the 1 ½-inch pipe. Next, install the discharge pipe, elbow, male adapter, check valve and ball valve. The check valve should have a vertical height of at least 6.5 feet to prevent valve leakage. Connect the discharge pipe to a building drain for a total discharge height of less than 11 feet.
After installing the utility sink pump, plug the switch into a GFCI-protected, grounded outlet and then fill the sink, tub or washing machine with water and adjust the flow with the ball valve. After setting the ball valve, your laundry sink pump is ready for use.

The Star STL001 Automatic Utility/Laundry Sink Pump comes with a piggyback diaphragm switch for automatic or manual operations. The Star STL001 Automatic Utility/Laundry Sink Pump is pressure activated and the motor will turn on as soon as water enters the pump and will continue operation until the pump is empty.
The piggyback diaphragm plug design allows you to use the pump manually or automatically. Switch to manual mode to test the pump before use, or plug the pump and the float plug together into an outlet for automatic water removal.

This pump is very nicely made.Quieter than I expected! NiceWorks perfectly for my plastic garage sink.Saved a ton of money now that I don’t have to bust out the garage floor for a drain line!!Only issue was that I had to cut out a 4†hole in the shelf under the sink to make the 5†distance btwn the sink bottom and the pump intake. I bought the sink before deciding on the pump … wish I hade bought the pump first.. oh well !! Still a great product

Good water pump, easy installation But don't use the check valve that comes with it. It's not good quality. I bought a check valve from Home Depot 1 1/2 x 1 1/2

I never write reviews but felt that I had to warn potential buyers of this subpar pump. Its very easy to install but is very noisy. The pump have been installed for approximately 6 weeks and the shaft seal started leaking. I contacted the manufacturer about the 1 year warranty and I was advised that I would need to contact the seller about starting the warranty process. READ the warranty!! This pump is absolute JUNK. If I could give it no stars for value and longevity I would. The pump is worthless over a $5 pump seal.

It works well. The motor is good. Seems a bit too powerful and loud for a small bar sink. But the quarter turn valve helps lower the volume and noise. Due to the small storage tank, it cuts on and off very frequently when the water is on.

UPDATE: I read a review on another site describing the same problem. That reviewer opened the impellor housing, removed debris, and fixed the pump. I opened mine and found 4 small chunks of debris. The smallest was maybe 1mm and the largest perhaps 3mm. But, this was enough to jam the impellor. After reinstalling the pump, it operated fine again. YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL A VERY FINE SCREEN IN YOUR SINK DRAINS TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. Updating rating to 3 stars and replacing the basement carpet.----Original review: I have the same problem as an earlier reviewer from January 2023. I have my water softener system's discharge hose running into my utility sink. I just found out the pump seized up during the latest backwash cycle, allowing the sink to overflow and flooding my basement. The pump housing was very hot and the pump was humming but not moving water. Neither the GFCI it was plugged into nor the breaker at the service panel had tripped. I am outside the Amazon return window but have contacted the seller to request a refund or replacement. I will update this review if/when I hear back from the seller.

Perfect solution when a utility sink is needed below sewer line. Easy to install if you have some basic plumbing knowledge and follow the step by step directions. (Maybe well worth it to call in a plumber!) This was a great value, best price I found and delivered in two days time.
