I learned the hard way to protect the ends of my StarLink cable. Those soft metals connectors are as fragile as they look. Unfortunately, I got careless and let them hit the ground occasionally while coiling the cable. After a few trips and maybe a couple of dozen set-ups and take-downs, my dish suddenly stopped working. Serves me right.Inspecting the plugs, I could see that the soft metal surrounding the tip of the dish-end connector was slightly distorted. Worse, a tiny piece of desert gravel was embedded inside. I extracted it with tweezers, but one of the tiny metal contacts was broken. At this point I was beginning to worry that the receiving connection on the dish may have been damaged as well. If so, I would be out $800 for a whole new dish. Fortunately, a week and $80 later, a new cable did the trick. Everything is running normally now. After combing through Amazon looking for StarLink cable end caps, I found these. I was a bit hesitant to order them as they had no ratings, and the reviews for other after-market cable protectors were scathing—basically, they all sound like junk that fall off the cables immediately. But these ones are the real deal. They are slightly flexible and separately contoured to fit snugly onto the differently-shaped connectors. I now keep the ends of my cables covered constantly, until the moment I hook up the dish and router, and especially while coiling. Best 9 bucks I ever spent.FYI, StarLink connectors differ among models. I have a second generation rectangular dish with the separate 4-legged stand, purchased 2022. These caps fit the cable ends perfectly.

I purchased these for two reasons. 1) I needed a way to protect the cable ends as I fished the cable through the innards of my Motorhome. Motorhome passages are a morass of cabling, insulation, tight areas etc. 2) To protect the cable ends when the router is not in the Motorhome. One of the ends is permanently in stored in my utility compartment where the fresh water connections and sewer lines are. The odds of the cable getting sprayed and wet are pretty good. These caps keep the ends well protected from moisture and dirt when I need to throw it under the Motorhome to get to the other side.

Soft plastic cover for the ends of the Gen 2 Starlink cable. Protects the USB-C type connector from dust and damage while being stored. Definitely does the job.

These cable end caps are very soft and easy to install. They are perfect for sealing the end of our dishy cable while it is stowed during travel days in our RV.The cable lies (secured) on our roof and we required a way to keep moisture and airborne debris from collecting in and on the cable connector. I believe this will also prevent corrosion as well.

The tether broke, with little effort, while removing from package.

I waited a few months to put this on my cable because I don’t use my Starlink except for vacation travel. Right away, stretching it to fit over the cable end, the loop that holds it on, broke. The caps work great but now when cable is in use, I have to make sure I don’t lose the cap with the broken loop.
